As i indicated you can set the colors so that you have a similar loox than before.
In detail:

Top color RGB = 190,205,139
Main Editor Background Color = 224,224,224

You can enter these colors via the color picker -> right-click the 'New' color rectangle -> Edit RGB.
sl23 wrote:You could take this a lot further and add this ability to colour change any/every part of the interface. What do you think? So you could change the Racks and other Grey parts to a colour if you so wished. Perhaps this is already planned?

Would be cool if the dark elements of the GUI could be similarly colorized.
Maybe later. I thought about the option, it's technically possible, but in my opinion it's not the right time to invest even more time in this at this point. The UI did need some tweaks, no doubt about that, so that's what i did. Now we all see that even more options are possible, inspiration is always nice, but the essential thing about making choices still exists. I want to evolve to M5.0 release point as quick as possible. Before then i'll tweak things where really necessary. But R&Ding more/extended features will be pushed to the M5.x/M6 stage. Looking forward to that, but going step by step.

Sorry, you misunderstand, though it's my fault. When I said preferred how it looked I was referring to the "Display" (as in the LED lookalike displays) and "Browser" using different colours. Hopefully that'll come later?

Just a +1 here to note that I agree with all dakkra comments about tuning. Especially the thickness of the Play Bar.

Thanks

Can't wait for M6, no rush though

Using the default blue color when I make an automation clip it's hard to see the drag handle for curves

I really like the fact that you can change the colors, but I'm disapointed because I have always claimed that Mulab is too dark, and it's still not possible to change the main black background...
Hope it will possible in a 5.x relase...

And I have noticed that the black keys in the sequence editor are less visible than before...

Post

I disagree with Mulab being too dark, but then it's a personal preference. It was unexpected, but I'm glad this colour changing option was introduced and like the darker background in the composer/sequence editor.

No worries! It was a suggestion, no need to have it done right away :) Whenever you think is best is just fine - and I agree that it's not a high priority thing.

While editing waveforms in the oscillator the rounded corners are confusing. When I was trying to get to the edge of the wave cut me off. Also the rounded edges disappear after clicking on the oscillator box

So the black background is or isn't going to be editable? I rather like the idea of being able to adjust the colors... but that one is the most important relative to the overall scheme i.e. that color really dictates what I do with the others. I adjusted mine to an overall medium grey, but the "black" limits what I can do to go lighter.

my .02 of course... :)

Post

You could always edit the individual images in the skin folder to be brighter...

Post

Er, well black is tough to lighten in Photoshop... But It's not that big a deal...

Looking great, i love it! :)

Little recommendation here. In automation clips instead of having the points and handles lighter than the colored area have it darker. That way it's easier to the them and makes for a quicker and more productive work time. Just a recommendation though.

EDIT:

So I can see a lighter points and handles being useful with dark colors. Maybe a way to select lighter or darker?

There is a new MuLab 5.0.33 test package available in http://www.mutools.com/mulab/everest

This is what's changed since M5.0.32:
  • More customizable UI colors.
  • Support for 'Looks' presets.
  • Improved visibility of the envelope points.
  • Faster loading of presets especially big presets like MuDrum presets.
  • When dragging the curve handle of an envelope point, then up/down behavior has been tuned so the result is as intuitive as possible.
  • Fixed a graphical mismatch in the multi-point envelope module editor.
  • Updated the file/folder browser top buttons so to match the restyled looks.
  • File/folder browser: Favorite list now includes Desktop + Factory Folder + User Folder.
  • Session menu: "Toggle Automatic Manual MIDI Input Focus" now shows a proper toggle icon in front so to indicate the current state.
  • Tuned the contrast of the editor grid lines.
  • Note editor: Dragging note lengths uses more contrasting drag box.
  • Waveform editor now draws a smooth rectangle around the actual waveform area.
  • Added a separate preference "Piano Key Lanes Contrast".
  • By default the UI focus box is not drawn anymore. It's still a preference that can be changed though.
  • By default the UI focus is not changed by hovering an UI component. It's still a preference that can be changed though.
  • Finetuned some menu texts. (note that this might break some existing shortcuts, just recreate them)
  • When unresolved shortcuts are found they're removed and the shortcut database is updated so you'll only get the message once.
  • Finetuned looks for the selected/dragged events in the sequence editor.
  • Everywhere you can edit a color (eg "Edit The Looks") you can drag-drop that color editor to other color editors, and right-click it for some context functions.
So for example in "Edit The Looks" you can drag-drop the Main Editor Back Color to the Browser Back Color to quickly copy that specific color.
  • When cut/copy-pasting parts inter-session you now get a question "Also copy the target module(s)?" with options Yes and No.
  • When cut/copy-pasting parts inter-session and also copying the target module(s) the target module(s) are only copied once. (per inter-session operation)
  • When cut/copy-pasting parts inter-session the use of shared sequences now is preserved. (per inter-session operation)
  • A bunch of other tunings in functionality and graphics.
Because of the further changes in the UI you need to install the complete new package. As always you can copy your user settings into that new installation, cfr http://www.mutools.com/info/docs/mulab/ ... ation.html

Hope you like the further enhanced looks & feel.

This version is close to a pre-release. If you encounter any serious issues please let me know! Thanks.

Cheers! :)
