I just wonder if the way you kindly demand features work well with the rest of the developers of free plugins.Kriminal wrote:Well?

Well, that should really show plogue a thing or two. How dare they offer free software without taking all of your feature requests into accountKriminal wrote:i havent demanded anything, but your attitude sucks, so i wont be trying your plugin.davidv@plogue wrote:I just wonder if the way you kindly demand features work well with the rest of the developers of free plugins.Kriminal wrote:Well?

The greatest gentleman on the forum spoke...
David don't let one bad apple spoil your image of Sforzando users.
We are grateful for what you gave us and you will add features when or if you wan't and we will patiently wait for some new surprises which may or may not come.

I'm finding the plugin pretty useful so far. Hopefully you don't just write it off. I love the open standard, and sharing kits with others could be pretty cool. I like that they offer VST, AU, and RTAS. Pretty nice for free.

I like it too, a lot, especially the low footprint, the robust disk streaming and the SFZ support degree which seem quite high. I hope it's mantained and updated, anyway it's highly usable and stable as it is already.

Sforzando is the best free SFZ player. I cannot understand how anyone would have the audacity to put absurd demands to the developer, who just gave us this great plugin for free. (Including a great free sound library with custom GUIs, a great file browser and the ability to import/convert standard sondfont files etcetera).
Many people, who like to work with sfz and soundfont sounds, have been waiting for a usable player without any major bugs for a long time. Other sfz-players before had serious issues like multicore bug, memory problems when loading big sfz files and so on. One so called "professional" SFZ player for instance, wasn't even able to load sfz files at all. Isn't that hilarious?
So please!

If we can go ahead, I really wonder if they will be more and new sound libraries in sfz format in the future. I own many, free or paid but there are very few compared to what it's available for Kontakt.
You can't always get what you waaaant...

Yes there will! I am going to make sure of that, the work has already begunstanlea wrote:If we can go ahead, I really wonder if they will be more and new sound libraries in sfz format in the future. I own many, free or paid but there are very few compared to what it's available for Kontakt.
As for all the other silliness, let's just concentrate on how fantastic it is that there is now a free working quality multi-format SFZ player.
THANK YOU to David Viens, I love you, ignore any outside negativity in real life and digital life! I think Canada is fantastic too

Haha
Thanks a lot for all the comments and support! As most of you understood correctly, sforzando is really a bare SFZ player, but with an advanced implementation of the specification, based on a tech thats been shipping for more than 4 years now.
Unless they are obvious oversights (some of which will be addressed soon) we don't plan to add tons of feature sforzando directly. If we do it will be in another product, but right now I have too much stuff on the plate making this unlikely.
Since its based on it, sforzando will however benefit from any updates to the Aria Engine, which we update anyway each month. A new one is planned right before I leave for NAMM.
We also hope to do more free banks in the future, so if you want to contribute, just drop us a pm or email. Can't wait to see what you guys will come up with.
Cheers

To elaborate:
With Sforzando, you have made exactly what we was missing in a free sfz player. Great DFD, GUI controls, 64bit, Full support for KS, RRs etc.. Linuxsampler has most of these, but its way harder to use and configure. The only thing its missing is multitimbral operation, but it really isnt that important IMO.
Its a real game changer that can turn many more people towards the format, and make it live for a long time. Congratulations Plogue, you will be remembered!

I can say that this plugin is just the kick in the butt we (Impact Soundworks) need to port the rest of our libraries over to sfz, with Baard's help of course
Shreddage 3 Stratus: Next generation Kontakt Player guitar, now available!
Impact Soundworks - Cinematic sounds, world instruments, electric guitars, synths, percussion, plugins + more!
