AFAIK all CM studio plugins should be 64 bit compatible and Win/OSX since last month when CM studio was revised in this regard.

I have to say, with so many great synths such as this available for free, pirating any plugins is just lame. freebies like this (or CM-Equa, or Zebra CM, or Aalto Solo, or Synthmaster CM, or put your favourite freebie here) are of better quality than many commercial plugins were not so long ago

Here we go, yet again. 64 bit COMPATIBLE is NOT the same as 64 bit native. BIG difference.mabian wrote:AFAIK all CM studio plugins should be 64 bit compatible and Win/OSX since last month when CM studio was revised in this regard.

The last issue of CM, to their credit, listed all the 64 bit native plugs in the newly revised update of its library. I can't recall the exact amount, but I think something like a third of the total was actually native 64.
While you would think that all newly released plugs (paid, as well as MAGware) would automatically be released in the most up-to-date format, sadly, this is not the case. (Sadly, the much anticipated Head Case line stands out as one example.)
Very glad to hear that Curve 2 will be released x64.
Cheers

And, I may be mistaken, but I believe that the new SynthmasterCM was not released as native 64. If I am wrong (and I do hope that I am) I'm sure someone will chime in.

I suspected I might be wrong about that one. A glitch with CM has delayed my copy with SynthmasterCM, and I didn't see it listed in the 64 bit notes that I saw. I stand by my earlier post though.audio/fault wrote:it is 64bit.BERFAB wrote:And, I may be mistaken, but I believe that the new SynthmasterCM was not released as native 64. Here we go, yet again, with the 64 bit mafiaBERFAB wrote:Here we go, yet again. 64 bit COMPATIBLE is NOT the same as 64 bit native. BIG difference.
Everybody got their own agenda with plugins. What about VST3 compatibility? What, CM Studio is not VST3 certified? But then I can't use it with Steinberg Sequel

AFAIK, there is no bridge required to use plugs that are not up to the VST3 protocol (other than Sequel which, if memory serves, is supposed to be a closed system). In fact, until recently, only Steinberg made plugs that fit that protocol.Numanoid wrote:Here we go, yet again, with the 64 bit mafiaBERFAB wrote:Here we go, yet again. 64 bit COMPATIBLE is NOT the same as 64 bit native. There's no "Mafia." Using bridges creates a very real, tangible, interruption in the chain that has a measurable effect on efficiency and stability.
I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that I honestly don't care if a plug is not released in native 64 bit. What is troubling is that people are not honest about it. Compatibility is very different from native. Insisting that something is 'compatible,' without more, is misleading.
Some devs (I'm looking at you, IL) seem to have a business model built around convincing new customers that there's no difference, instead of doing the hard work of upgrading their products. I've said it elsewhere: 64 bit is not a fad. Windows now has 2 full OS's under its belt with that standard, and it happens to be the current state of the technology. It may not be fair, but devs need to step up to keep up. That's the business they're in.
Other than that, I have no strong feelings on the subject.

Didn't mean to be rude. But here we are talking about CM Studio, which a lot of people get for free through the recent Zinio voucher give away. So to request that this plugs be 64 bit through and through I think is a bit too much to ask.BERFAB wrote:Some devs (I'm looking at you, IL) seem to have a business model built around convincing new customers that there's no difference, instead of doing the hard work of upgrading their products. A funny thing about Sequel though is that that only accepts VSTs in VST3 format, and you would think then that the plug has to be in 64 bit format. But no, Sequel in fact only accept VST3's in 32 bit format. It's a crazy world

It's all good.
We have these discussions because we really care about this stuff. And most people outside of KVR think we're nuts. But that's another post for another day.
I have nothing but respect for any dev doing their best to bring us their best. And when they give it to us free, well, my respect turns to reverence.
I'm a long time subscriber to CM and love the content on the discs. But it is disappointing to upload the content only then to discover that the specs are restrictive. Printing the specs upfront in the magazine is, I think, a small thing that makes a big difference. Saves a lot of time for the end user.
Asking if Curve 2 is 64 bit was purely an informational inquiry. Not judgmental. I'm sorry if anyone may have thought otherwise.
Cheers
