Amen to that :tu:

Sorry, I meant 64 bit NATIVE, at least on Windows.

I know that DiversionCM was temporarily removed because it was only Windows.

And, if I remember well, the CM Studio streamlining refers to avoid plugins which are not both multiplatform (Win/OSX) and multi architecture (32/64 bit).

Maybe this is not completely true, at least for OSX...

Somebody who will be happy is those using ProTools, as RTAS version of Curve 2 CM is included.

Curve 2 CM VST version is delivered as two dll files, one 64 bit and one 32 bit.

Here's the current state of play with CM Plugins and 64-bit (from our FAQ in the mag):

"Which of the plugins are 64-bit?

These plugins have a 64-bit version for PC: DDMF CM EQ Pack, eaReckon CM-EQUA 87, XFadeLooper CM, Rob Papen RG-Muted CM, Sonimus Satson CM, Curve 2 CM, SynthMaster CM, Wolfram CM.

The following have a 64-bit Mac version: eaReckon CM-EQUA 87, Dune CM, Curve 2 CM, Rob Papen RG-Muted CM, Sonimus Satson CM, Wolfram CM, SynthMaster CM."

We have 64bit CPUs for about a decade now, since Windows Vista x64 they become really usable, most well maintained DAWs are already 64 bit too - so why on earth should I not care whether the plugin is x64 or isnt? I do care, I like using modern technology, so being 64bit native or not is kind of a filter for software/plugins that are coded using legacy technologies. And it doesn't matter whether it's free or paid plugin - if it's free, the author should care to make it available for the broadest audience, if it's paid - it should should be done on par with latest standards.

Interesting that DuneCM is x64 for MAC but not PC. Any chance a PC x64 version is coming?

So many plugins, so little time...

oh, is there a new "dune cm" version in cm 188?
the "old" version is not recognized by logic express 9.1.8 (au) and ableton live 9 (latest beta - au and vst) in 64bit-mode.

What are the differences between Curve 2 CM and the full version of Curve 2? Thanks!

Curve 2 CM has 2 OSCs (Curve 2 has 3). The first one can use 2 waveforms with modulatable crossfade, as in Curve 2, but the 2nd OSC can only use one waveform.

Curve 2 CM has 1 freely routable and drawable EG/envelope (instead of 2).

Curve 2 CM has 1 LFO (instead of 4).

There's no noise generation for its OSCs and its LFO in Curve 2 CM.

Curve 2 CM has 3 macro controls, Curve 2 got 4 of them.

Both got the same filter settings, the same waveform editor, unisono settings and legato modes.

Curve 2 CM has 4 waveform slots (in Curve 2 you can draw up to 10 waveforms and freely assign them to OSCs and LFOs).

Both have the same online preset sharing system and feature author profiles, but there's of course less sounds for Curve 2 CM (right now, its about 400 presets after syncing, and great ones.. we've invested quite some time and got well-known preset designers on board for it, as well as great presets by dedicated users; Curve 2 got 3000+ presets right now).

Ah, all sounds from Curve 2 CM will also be available in Curve 2 in about 10 days!

Generally, Curve 2 CM is great for basic patches and some rhythmic stuff and some pads, while Curve 2 adds additional richness to the sounds, more rhythmic options due to more LFOs and more depth for pads. But Curve 2 CM is perfectly fine for lots of sounds, so best to check its preset library.

And: Both are 32+64-bit ;-), VST+AU+RTAS for Win+Mac.

Wow - thank you - this is an excellent summary. One additional question - can Curve 2 presets be loaded into Curve 2 CM (I understand that CM does not have all of the functionality of the full version, and therefore the results will likely be different than when using the same preset in the full version).

Thanks!!

ImageLine know if 64bit is a moneymaker for them, or not.
They know that 32 bit only sounds half as good as 64 bit,
and that nobody cares, because hiphop still sells at 16 bit.
They know their sales data, and plan accordingly.
Perhaps they are doing the hard work quietly,
and will only announce the release when it's finished and solid,
unlike the forced beta testing imposed on customers of any 64bit OS.
Cheers

This is cool how 3 of the best sounding synthesizers out there have CM versions now.

ZebraCM
AlchemyCM
CurveCM

It's pretty amazing how much power you get for so little these days !

Not my cup of tea but it sounds pretty good.

I?m not quite sure whether you are kidding or not, but just to make sure:

The 64bit version of any given plugin should sound 100% identical to its 32bit counterpart or else there is a bug somewhere.
