No, the text:

Oh right, that page, i thought it was about MuSampla. Thanks! Fixed.

all great, but I really hope there will be some good realtime time-stretch & pitch-shifting implemented - the most important missing things to stay competetive...

That's what many people told me about multi-core too. So if they're right M5 is very competitive now :) That said, M5 is not expected to be the last step in the MuLab story.

good to hear... :tu:

Nevertheless I hope it will come soon. There are many good algorithms out there...

OK, here we are:

- Celemony ARA
- zPlane Elasitique
- Sample Sumo Time Stretch Algorithm
- Paulstretch
- QuikQuak Copula
- Dirac
- Prosoniq TimeFactory 2
- MPEX

for some to mention... :)

And how do you sort these ones if you only take sound quality as criterium.

I do not have experience with all...

but...

1 Celemony ARA - Melodyne works perfect implemented in Studio One.
2 zPlane Elasitique - well known, even Efficient 2 Algorithm would be MUCH better than nothing.... used in Energy XT 2.5, Tracktion 4, Live...etc.
3 Paulstretch - EXCELLENT for tonal stretches, but a bit difficult to handle....

- Sample Sumo Time Stretch Algorithm - don't know but these guys are cool (from smartelectronix)
- QuikQuak Copula - don't know this but Quikquak does excellent work

- Dirac - no experience, used in Wavelab I think
- Prosoniq TimeFactory 2 - no experience
- MPEX - used in Cubase, but perhaps expensive...

- There was a simple Algorithm called Sound Touch some years ago. Average Quality, but - hell- better than nothing. If I want to stratch up to 120 % it should be enough...

To be honnest: One of the reasons i did not yet go for time-stretching is because i'm not convinced by the sound-quality of most algorithms i heard. It always adds those harsh mechanic artifacts, very unmusical, imho. Atoh i do understand the technical need for it and i'm sure it depends on the source sound too. If you would ever find some time to make the comparison more complete that would be very helpful. Of course i'll do more comparisons myself too but i think there is an important subjective aspect on this so user input is welcome.

I don't use much audio other than an occasional loop or two... but I guess the bpm needs to be set to the loop in MuLab and cannot be stretched? In Logic you can option drag a clip and it's pretty much no big deal... I guess that would be nice for heavy audio use, not sure what everyone else does... There are some plugs that will time-stretch clips that can be used as a VST in MuLab also.

Note that when you want to get ryhtmic loops into the tempo, you can easily slice the loop and create a slice sequence for it, so then the loop perfectly follows the tempo, and if the markers are placed fine, it sounds very good. The extra advantages of this way of 'stretching' loops is that you can even re-arrange loops, or replace certain slices by other slices, or process certain slices individually (eg reverb on slice 8 and 12) etc. I always much more believed in loop slicing than in loop stretching. But then again i know that stretching is a tool to have as when used wisely it certainly is helping production.

Jo:

Will you Youtube demo that loops behaviour? :help:

Ran into a little crash. Had audio playing back while I was using the Multi point envelope editor and mulab has a massive lag attack. Then it crashed.
