I want to be able to just select the amp parameter in logics automation
But the only two options I have through automation are delay and sync. (which seems unnecessarily limited.)
I found this thread that explains you can assign the amp to an x,y parameter and then pick the parameter up through the automation selection. Which I dont really like, because if you have too many x,y assignments it gets confusing to know which one is which.

I tried adding the lines (by guessing)
110: LFO1:Amp:"Amp" //LFO1: Lfo1->Amp
110: LFO1:Amp:"LFO1:Amp" //LFO1: Lfo1->Amp
in the files at that location in the vain hope it would enable amp automation in logic.
but it didnt even register that I had made changes to the text file.
Is there a way to get it working, without an inderect route. I like clean solutions.

Yep, the LFO Amplitude knobs aren't directly modulatable. If you don't want to use XYs one other option is to use an MMix:
Note the MMix type is set to "scale sum by const" and note the position of the LFO in the ModMixer slot 2. Now you can automate in your daw the Const knob. It's highly unlikely you'll run into a preset using all 4 MMixers.
Another option is to use the Matrix instead of direct modulation. Set the Mod knob to your LFO, and set your Target to whatever you want. Then in your DAW automate the Matrix 1 Depth parameter (MMD1). The downside to this method is indrect modulation isn't as fast as direct modulation. I recall Urs saying the matrix is scanned approx 2ms slower for changes than direct modulation. This may or may not matter to you depending on your intended effect.
