I was really impressed with the demoes of MUX, and thinking about getting it but i have a few questions before i'll buy it.

So, as the headline suggests, what is the update policy for MUX?
Is it transferable, or becomes NFR once purchased?

Thanks :)

Thanks, it answered the second question, but i couldn't find the answer to the first.

Oh, sorry, i didn't understand it were separate questions.

Can you please be more specific about your first question. What exactly do you want to know?

I can't answer that question yet as it is not yet defined what will be in MUX 6.
Safest is to assume it won't be a free update and to evaluate whether MUX 5 is worth 49 euros for you.

I can say that IF there would be an update price from M5 to M6 it will be gentle. Bottomline always is: I need to ensure sufficient income to ensure further developments, and at the same time i want users to be as happy as possible about the MuTools products. I don't think any users can say he/she has been ripped off by purchasing MuLab / MUX. At the contrary.

ok, i think i went too far with MUX 6 :hihi:
But what about minor updates? can i assume theyr'e free?

Yes you'll get all M5.x updates for free, no doubt there!

I'm going to buy it for sure, love the sound quality!
but another question, iv'e just tried the demo which is great, but have some bugs. For my understanding the current release of MUX is not final, right?

Post

According to the MuTools site both MuLab and Mux are Pre-releases. So, no not final. But then, personally, I don't consider them final til the very last update. Bugs are pretty rare and when found are sorted asap.

Which ones?

Indeed, i'm working on an update which fixes/improves several reported issues, as well in MuLab as MUX Vst.

Ok, i'll try to describe the bugs i have encountered so far, and i'll note that my DAW is FL Studio.

After i unlock a certain patch interface, and for example i right click and open the "change size" window - if i click anywhere on FL Studio interface, the "change size" window loses focus and goes back to my desktop. This is kinda annoying because in order to keep tweaking MUX knobs (MUX GUI is not available when "change size" is opened), i have to go to my desktop, click OK on the "change size" window, and then back to my DAW.

Second one, not sure if it's a bug though, is that i can link my midi keyboard knobs only to Meta Parameters, while other MUX knobs which doesn't belong to the Meta, can't be assigned natively to a midi controller.

Third, tweaking filter depth parameter on the Basic Synth, requiers retriggering of a note to be heard - i can't hear a change in filter depth when i'm holding a note on my keyboard (eg sustain)and parallely tweaking the knob. The Musynth doesn't has this problem though.

Thanks for elaborating and sorry for the delayed reply.

I tried the same. If i click on the FLS UI while the "Component Size" panel is open, ok it gets behind FLS, but you can get it back quickly by clicking its button in the taskbar. But i wonder why would you want to go away from the "Component Size" panel when it's open?

It's not a bug but i understand your FR and have taken note about this. Can't promise anything but at least it's on the wishlist now.

That's how the Basic Synth patch is constructed, but you can change that via the deep editor if you want. Instead of using the ADSR Global Level parameter, which indeed is only re-evaluated on note ons, you could insert a Modulation Mapper between the filter adsr and the filter and update the Filter Depth meta parameter so it points to that Modulation Mapper -> Amplitude.

Sometimes i "go away" from it by accident ("component siz" panel is very small and it happens", and some other times i just need to tweak other controls int FL while mixing.
