If you want to program a bassline using the MuDrum, i would rather put that same (or variated) bass sound on different pads, each with their own pitch, then make a groove. Fun thing about working this way is that each different note of that bassline can be tweaked a lot. Yes that's certainly an interesting way of doing it.DHR53 wrote:Well, since I can load an instrument into the pads... it seemed like a good idea to create a bassline within the drum track. A number of drum synths let you adjust pitch of notes by beat so I was looking into what I could do that way.
Personal thoughts after trying Mulab for some weeks....

Hmmm... I think I'm doing something wrong... Say I have a synth in element 3 and the other 2 turned off. I put 6 notes/beats in a one bar sequence. I was thinking I could change the pitch for each note by drawing changes in the control lane in the midi editor. But I can't tell a. how I target the pad I loaded the synth in. b. does each pad in the MuDrum have it's own controller setup and can I address those with the controller lane at the bottom of the midi editor? Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way, but I'd like to effect some changes to the parameters of the sampler/element with controllers per hit... If that makes sense. You can do this with some drum synths like Punch and Tremor. Was thinking I could do the same thing with MuDrum. I'm experimenting of course!

For me:
5. Support for multicore processors -- top priority IMO, I've got an old quad core, so I hit the limit a lot.
3. Multiple takes with automatic punch in/out -- I debated putting this above multi-core. I record most of the stuff in my projects, so I'd get a huge amount of use out of this feature.
1. Time stretch. -- Would be very nice, at the moment you have to turn to other plugins for stretch/repitch functionality.

In MuLab, connecting a track to a module is simply a matter of drag-dropping that module onto the track header. You can even click-drag-drop the background of an open module editor as a proxy to that moduleDHR53 wrote:But I can't tell a. how I target the pad I loaded the synth in.
Concrete example: Drag-drop the vertical "Element 1" label in a MuPad (right side of MuDrum) onto a track, that will connect that track to that MuSampla element of the MuPad of the MuDrum.
Yes. Each module has its own MIDI controller map! But you can also map MIDI CCs for a child module into a parent module.b. does each pad in the MuDrum have it's own controller setup
Yes. If you want to automate a certain parameter of an element of a mupad of a mudrum, then this can be done as well using automation envelopes as well as with the graph editor in the sequence editor. It's just a matter of targetting the right module.and can I address those with the controller lane at the bottom of the midi editor?

I just sent you an email with two tunes to the infodesk@mutools.com.... they are not part of the competition by the way. My contribution to that will come in a week or so.By the way: Any of your musics online?
Now I will try to import audio files the way you suggested. Two questions first.
Does the file have to contain transient or groove info like rex2-files or can it be just ordinary audio files?
What format do you support for files imported this way?

Nice! Enjoying the attached one atmvoidpipe wrote:I just sent you an email with two tunes to the infodesk@mutools.com....By the way: Any of your musics online?

It can be any audio file, MuLab has a built-in transient analyzer.Does the file have to contain transient or groove info like rex2-files or can it be just ordinary audio files?
AIFF, WAVE, MP3, OGGWhat format do you support for files imported this way?

Thanks for that quick tutorial... I see how that works. But I guess what I was trying to do was the same thing... without creating a separate track in the sequencer? Does there need to be a track added for this to work? i.e. do this controller change in the sequence itself?

I'm trying to use Analog Factory as a VST in MULAB. I can open it up and pick a patch, but it overtakes the MULAB screen about 90%. There's no way to minimize Analog Factory or move it around to get to the MULAB tracks screen and controls underneath.
Anyone had this experience? If so, any fixes??
Thanks.

I absolutely agree with points 1 - 4, especially 1,2 and 4. Point 5 seems to be solved yet...voidpipe wrote:
1. Time stretch. I can drag a loop to fit in a number of bars. If I change the tempo of the song all tracks will adjust
2. Groove detection, so I can copy a groove from an audio track for example to other audio or midi tracks
3. Multiple takes with automatic punch in/out
4. Freeze (bounce a midi track with all vst:s down to a simple audio track)
5. Support for multicore processors
The handling of Audio isn't complete at the moment and has to be done to beat the competition.
Besides that - great program

This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?
