Mixbus 11

Don't care 32/64 it runs in, but last I tried (when there's still a demo) the audio engine still only running off 1 core which isn't all too usable. Don't need it to handle 100 tracks but I couldn't even get it to handle more than 2 or 3 instance of ozone5...

And the latency compensation is weird, only on the 8 fancy mix buss but not normal aux?

Thx for the info Musikmachine.

Same boat as you beux921,lots of pluses and minuses, very happy and very unhappy mixbus users giving out mixed opinions online.

Does look more like a 'sonically' high quality mastering tool as a opposed to sequencer.
Jesus, without being able to use a hardware controller like BCR/BCF 2000 it couldn't even be considered a true mixdown tool.....WTF!

Then again for $40 maybe worth a punt purely for the Harrison signature sound at mastering stage.
It certainly wont be replacing Reaper anytime soon thats for sure, especially with all the wonderful hardware based themes available like the API and WhiteTie's SSL based themes.

I did a little mastering on some old tracks (mainly acoustic guitar/vocals) using just the onboard eq/comp/tape sat, and a touch of valhallavintageverb and I have to say I loved working with it in that situation.. Quick and easy and sounded really nice.. .. I'm happy without midi instruments , I use ableton for that side of things.. If they sort out a few of the quirks I'll be happier but as is I'm still getting good use out of this.. Yes I think see this as a final step to mix /master your works or purely analogue tracking environment..

No problem! I think there were a few teething problems cause it's been a lot more stable in the past couple of days. Couldn't reload projects on my laptop at one point so i ran the repair and it's been working mostly since then, a few crashes but starting the audio engine before i load a project seems to stabilize it a bit. It's more robust than i was expecting but i don't know how well it will hold up under heavy use.

You can map midi controls but no hui and osc is in the works. http://www.harrisonconsoles.com/joomla/ ... iew&id=111

Just watched the tutorial/info clips on youtube on mixbus, worth a look if you're sitting on the fence with this, there's some pretty cool features explained.

Yeah those raines videos give a good overview. :) Sale's been extended to Sunday. I'm an eejit though, midi only works with osx and Linux.

Their support was pretty enthusiastic too , got back to me on what I can only guess was a Sunday evening their time.. I have a few plugins that don't work, but the way it's intended hopefully mixing in mixbus won't need too many external eq's /comps etc. and from my short experience with it so far that may be so !

Yeah support is great, they even replied to me on NYE! What he says about the mix coming together and all that, that's my short experience with it too. I'm happier with mixes done in mixbus just using the built in fx, no plugins added. :)

Yes, i've played around with a few things so far nothing too serious (max about 5 tracks in a project) and i've really only needed an instance of fabfilter proq on the master (more for the eq visualiser and a smidgen of surgery) and a couple instances of valhalla vintage verb . All other duties were well handled by mixbus and sounded great :-)

Hey guys,

We started a Mix Tips video series on YouTube for Harrison Mixbus around the beginning of the year. We post a new episode each week.

There's also some information on general EQ and compression in these videos that you'll probably find useful. Here are some episode links:

1: Grouping - In this short video we show how to group channels into a mixbus.

2: Parallel Compression - This video shows how you can blend a compressed signal into your drum mix to bring out detail and add more punch.

3: EQ - In this longer video, we demonstrate common EQ techniques and how to achieve them in the Mixbus mixer.

4: Compression - This video demonstrates the basic parameters of a compressor and shows how we implement the three most common compression tasks in Mixbus.
