I was just listening to the Youtube video of the "tape saturation with the Mixbuss". I wouldn't agree that the transient portion of the sound is not important to the sound AT ALL... but to "tame" the transient portion somehow, not to lose it completely, is good. Losing it makes the sound sound dull and not interesting any more. Just dull. Like most of the music these days sound like. Dull and uninteresting. Essentially a noise square. A noisy, distorted, square.

2.3 is currently in the works, and there are massive changes coming to v3 now that the Ardour 3 platform is nearing completion.scalawag wrote:Any news on updates? Last one was 4 months ago...

Woohoo! I was anticipating a future Mixbus 3 (looking forward to it), but did not give much thought to an upcoming v2.3.tim@harrison wrote:2.3 is currently in the works, and there are massive changes coming to v3 now that the Ardour 3 platform is nearing completion.scalawag wrote:Any news on updates? Hi Scalawag. As you know, all releases are a mix of fixes and features. Send a note to mixbus@harrisonconsoles.com if you need something specific and we'll see if we can get it into 2.3.

I see there is another sale on for this software.
Anyone who bought it, especially during the sale at the end of 2012, that has had more time with it since then, have any more detailed impressions of, or thoughts on it?

Apparently no demo to try.
If I were to buy this software and I don't get into it, can I sell my license? Does anybody know their policy on this?

Hi sqigls,
The license has your name embedded in it, so it is not practical to sell it.
We provide videos to see the operation of Mixbus, and we provide fast email support to help you learn Mixbus once you've purchased it. We have found this to be a better combination than a demo.
Best Regards

Ben: please, please, please put the mixer in a tab, or find some way to nest it into the GUI. Almost useless to me on a single monitor. Having to buy a 2nd monitor can't the the solution.

Hi MickGael,
There's a full-function mixer strip on the left of the editor, and you can click Alt-M to switch between the editor and mix windows to see multiple mix strips.
In theory I like your sliding tab idea, but in practice I don't see how it would be better. If screen space is your issue, then adding more sliding/scrolling elements just uses up more pixels. Can you draw me a mockup to show me what you want?
If you're really interested in developing your idea, you should take advantage of the open-source nature of Mixbus and implement it yourself (or pay a programmer to do it). That's an option you don't have with other DAWs.

Hi Ben, thank you for always being so reasonable and open to discussion. I really hope the software takes off. I'd be delighted to mock something up.
I do know a programmer, btw. What language(s) would he need to know?

While I'm sure your heart is in the right place and you guys seem really cool (accessible, truthful, knowledgable) to me, I have to disagree with that sentiment, there is nothing better than a demo for learning if a thing is comfortable for you before buying.
Maybe better for your company (cracks being what they are and all that) but not better for the potential user.
Thanks Ben.

Ardour/Mixbus is written mostly in C++. For what you're trying to do, you should find someone who is familiar with the "Gtk" graphics libraries.MickGael wrote:I do know a programmer, btw. What language(s) would he need to know?
