Yes, there was claim about distortions in mid range but the guy said, it really depends on what to process. On some material it can be noticed, on some can't.

Let's localize the problem!

1. What module is the cause of problem? (you can turn each of them off and check). I suppose, it's peak limiter module.
2. Does the level of distortions changed in latest version 1.0.2 versus previous 1.0.1?
3. If the problematic module is peak limiter, does the level of distortion changed when you change limiter speed (1/3, 1/2, 1/1)?
4. Does the turning oversampling on/off affects the level of mid-range distortion?

BTW, latest Barricade version is really cool. And freeware plugins should have either cheaper sound or restricted abilities than payed plugins, havent' they?

No, they haven't!

Distorting limiters are a waste of time for both developers and users!

I haven't noticed these mid range distortions since I don't limit much [I suppose that's the reason?], but it would be good to get to the bottom of this. It must be more prominent when you limit a lot? Say -6dB? If I find the time, I'm going to check it out. I never limit more than 3dB and usually it's just 1dB or so. My mixes already sound maxed out... so there's no need. :hihi: And I use just one instance of Limit6, but I was just considering using it on busses, too. Also, these distortions might sound good? I'm intrigued. :) Not on church songs, classics, and jazz, I suppose. :D

Oh, and many pretty expensive plugins have a very "cheap sound", too... but if your eyes believe the GUI, you might think it's the way it's supposed to sound. ;) It's tricky to evaluate the plugins by ears. VST analyser speaks better and far more accurate. But it's also not good to rely only on "scientific results" because you might miss out on something sounding really cool. ;)

Cheers!

He-he, it was provocative question from me :-)

BTW, non-distorting freeware limiter exists. It is Loudmax. But personally I don't like how it sounds on rock mixes. Maybe the reason is exactly in the lack of distortions.

IMHO, for transient reach sound the controlled amount of distortions can make them sound better (checks latest VoS plugs for example). The problem is to control the amount of them.

You're using Limiter6 in a right way! And I'm happy for it

Really nice sounding mastering processor, Thanks VladG very much. Donated.

Just want to share my GUI for the GUI2 version. I prefer it because it is compact on my display and right dimension of the GUI.

Here is my version of GUI2:

Thanks for sharing!

Personally I find the black font on a dark red background a bit difficult to read, but overall it looks pretty nonetheless. :)
Music... life would be boring without it.

I agree. That's why I rapidly changed back to the original, non-skeumorphic GUI.

Also, the knobs give an impression of faux-3D - not quite convincing. And because of that, a bit distracting, IMHO.

But it does look pretty, to be sure.

I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Any limiter distorts, it is by design. It is just the question at what amount of limiting it becomes audible, for one limiter sooner than for the other. And here freeware and payware should really be allowed to differ.
