I had luck to play on an OB-X and OB-Xa that a pal of mine has, and OP-X is close but the resonance is not really there yet. I mean, of course each individual analog synth even if it's the same model will sound slightly different, but here the difference was quite obvious on first listen, after matching parameters. And if you listen carefully on Peter's demos, it's also possible to discern the differences between his reference OB-X and OP-X Pro. However, for 98% of usages, it's close enough. It's the elusive 2% that always end up taking the most of your CPU

Peter did an excellent job emulating the synth and crafting presets. It is very credible work and I mean no offense to his efforts, but OP-X Pro still sounds like a softsynth to me. (I used to own an OB-8...)

Also, it just doesn't make me go oh wow that sounds beautiful the way Diva more frequently does.

But hey, this is the Bazille thread... whatcha all doing talking about other synths in it??!!

Regular troll here. Just been reading thru this forum, because I like playing with Berlin, and I'm always curious to see what's up with it. In regards to crap U-He's been getting:

I spent countless hours demoing synths, ignoring marketing hype, and looking for something responsive, expressive, and detailed. In the end I bought Diva. It's the ONLY soft synth I have bought in over four years. So impressed with it, I even started building a controller for it (about half way thru now).

I am a web developer. I build web applications. Clients always want shiny stuff. They want it all to work seamlessly, but yet don't like to pay for testing, or pay for extensive cross platform/mobile support. On top of that if you demo an app to 100 people, you'll get 100 different opinions on how it's to work. Urs' approach to development is remarkably balanced and well thought out; IMHO done correctly.

This is THE place for U-He to host a forum. People find out about synths here, I do. Traffic is significant. Traffic is unbiased (U-He can't delete bad press), and the SEM gains for u-he.com are a huge boon I'm sure. But more than that, finding that Urs actually shows up here to give feedback, PM users etc. says more to me than going to say Apple's Logic forums with a question and getting absolutely zero details or input from anyone other than other lost users.

As a final note. I like Berlin Modular.

Hey, if you feel like posting a photo or two plus explanation of the controller you are building, I am sure others besides myself would be interested...

This is it:

I've not bent the housing yet, 'cause I get one shot at it, and if it cracks, I'll be bummed (it's aircraft Al, which is more brittle). After that, the hard part of the housing is done and the front, back and top will be a single piece of Al with wood sides and bottom. The electronics are mostly done (you can see a few modules like the brain, in the pic). 'Just' have to mount and wire all the pots, buttons, & LED's to the panel (which will be a pain). It'll be for Diva initially, but of course, I have my sights on Berlin Modular and the layout/spacing is kinda based on a typical erurorack setup.

It'll be a complete keyboard, with a fatar 49 key keyboard with aftertouch (from an old Novation controller). There are 103 knobs (63/40 pots/encoders), 48 buttons, plus a ribbon controller that'll mount between the button row and the keyboard. Joystick type mod wheel on the left, and two foot pedal inputs. There's also a cut out and space for a Thin Mini-ITX motherboard, plus a SSD hard drive on the right. AC and switch are the cutouts on the back left.

The original design (which has changed slightly):

I have played around with Bazille, without presets installed so I can have more fun. This thing is good. Really good. This might end up to be my first u-he synth.
