Beta 9 now available!

Changes:
# The velocity based slider-mode can now be disabled in a globally persistent manner via the info screen.
# Several minor UI related fixes.
# improved UI graphics.

This will become the final release version if everything runs smoothly on your systems. Make sure to report any issues.

im not dl anymore betas cuz eery time i have to backup 3 hard drives and burn a new dvd

You didn't mention any more CPU load reduction but, I think beta 9 is even BETTER on CPU load than 8.

Same project I've been testing it with is showing less CPU load and it feels better.

Maybe the UI fixes have helped.

Is that possible or must I be imagining it ??

Thank you, Fabien! I'll give it a whirl today.

I rather spend Saturday evenings fiddling with the synths, socialising with my animals [and drinking], than trying to socialise with [mostly] humans [and drinking].

Animals are so much better to socialise with anyway. The most important advantage being: they don't talk, at least the way humans do.

I love the "linear mode", and the "velocity mode" works better now, too! It does seem to use a little less CPU, and now even a bit less when used in mono, which I often do. Yay!

That is with Reaper, Win XP x86. Phenomenal AMD 4 core.

Big THANK YOU also for not using the "registry" for trivial stuff. INI/conf file in the program directory is the perfect way of dealing with the settings, and you can transport your plug with the settings so much more easily. I would advise all the developers to follow your example and leave the registry alone.

Sounding absolutely amazing here, I am stunned. I am a mastering engineer by trade, and have not found any other compressor (hardware or software) that can do this many dB of clean/transparent GR. On a full mix, I can usually hear things starting to sound obvious with 1.5 - 2.5dB of GR on most of the compressors I have tried, but with this I was getting 3 or more dB and still not really hearing it. It's gonna be a godsend for when people want it just a bit LOUDER, as it'll hopefully enable me to get an extra "free" 2dB or so of gain before I even hit the analogue chain! Well done, I would be happy to pay/donate for this once it reaches an official release. I shall be pimping it hard at all the usual places! Thank you Fabien!

yes, I always find a few details to optimize and hope to deliver another (although smaller) performance improvement in the final version.

Glad you like the linear mode! I try to avoid the registry wherever possible, especially since it just complicates things a lot.

darkflame23: Thank you for the kind feedback (and support!). No need to donate, the "Gentleman's Edition" is already in the works. It will be a "snob" version with additional features and with cool pricing. Actually, you are the kind of guy I was thinking about when planning the Gentleman's Editions

All my future products will be basically free, with the option to upgrade yourself to a true gentleman.

I just thought I would repeat here what I mentioned on Facebook.
Maybe some other users will like the suggestion.

As an idea, maybe for the Gentleman's Edition, would it be possible to improve the Gain reduction information/meters ?

In particular, separate Gain reduction info for Peak and RMS, built into stereo meters so we see left and right channel reductions.

Otherwise, Beta 9 is trouble free here (10.8.3 and Logic 9.1.8 ).
Fantastic compressor.

Murray, the reduction is always the same for left and right, it makes sure the stereo centre doesn't move around!

Individual RMS/Peak path meters definitely make sense, I planned a small transfer-function update anyway (for the standard version, too).

Ok, re: the left and right reduction,that is a good reminder of how the Side-Chain Stereo Diff works

Individual RMS/Peak path meters will be handy/cool.

I guess we can call that a 1 all draw

The plug in window is taking longer than usual to close in my main DAW which is Digital Performer, I'm working in 32 bit mode, in Studio One it opens and closes a lot faster

Actually, I pretty much am when it comes to audio fidelity...

Great news, didn't know about the "Gentlemen's Edition" with cool pricing, and extra features, so am very much looking forward to that!

Been following your recent posts on GS regarding oversampling etc., very, very interesting stuff. Can I ask you which high end/clean/transparent mastering compressors you have been able to compare FBCII against? I must re-iterate that I am extremely impressed with the amount of clean/transparent compression possible with this plugin.

@Mario-C.: Can you confirm the plugin shut-down really became slower in DP with the last update? I have no idea what could be the reasons for this, the "closing" process is practically identical to all previous versions. The config file lookup definitely slows down the start-up, but the long shut down time is interesting. Do you experience the same issue with other JUCE plugins? (The Glue, Valhalla, ect)

I am proud owner of a STC-8 and had the chance to work with the GML and Weiss compressors. All these designs inspired me to work on an ITB alternative. Really happy you like it!

@tico-tico: Ah! I was already waiting for such complains! Ok, the problem is obvious, the plugin had no rights to write into you appdata folder. I have an idea what it could be). I will later hit you up with a test version if you don't mind. But just for my notes, did you experience a crash or any annoyance beside the broken persistence?
