Fritze, pdxindy, and others,
Here are excerpts of an e-mail I sent Fritze today:
"I attached a Cubase LE4 cpr file of the song. I also attached the Dark Zebra/ZebraHZ patch (it is a slightly modified factory patch originally called "Chug3 - large"). The song sounds rather boring because I deleted most of the tracks. The Cubase track 1 has the problem track with the Dark Zebra/ZebraHZ patch I called "Chug3 - large-CS"; it doesn't start playing until measure 14. It stops at measure 42, and starts again at measure 71. More than likely, the first time you play the song, the patch will probably sound rather quiet and dull. Usually I have to change my patch to "Chug3 - large", then back to "Chug3 - large-CS", play it manually on keyboard so it sounds good again, and then the Cubase sequencer plays it normally again. You may have to play the song up to measure 100 a few times before it starts acting up again. Before long, "Chug3 - large-CS" will start sounding quiet and dull again. For me, turning off all Cubase automation will fix the problem.........In the process of testing the song, I noticed that when "Chug3 - large-CS" plays dull and quiet, the VCF 1 cutoff was playing at 22, instead of the proper setting of 77 (why did I not notice that before?). Then I played the song several times and it wasn't having problems. I haven't tried doing a Midi Unlearn on this cutoff knob in case I want to automated cutoff adjustment in the future, though I'll do that later if necessary. At this point, I don't consider this a big problem, but thought I would send you this e-mail since I already started writing it."
At this point I'm not certain if this is a Dark Zebra bug or something weird my Cubase LE4 is doing.
Edit: Still working on the same song, the problem seems to have gone away for no apparent reason. Maybe re-booting the computer a couple of times helped.
