The problem is, it's easier to make a "modern mix" with shi* like Massive and Monark. But if you know your shi* you can do much better mixes with other, more dynamic synths. NI instruments always sounded blurred, smudged, limited to me. No use for what I do. I like to do the decisions about dynamics myself and construct the mix and the sounds from scratch.

Sorry, pal, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one... Massive is one extremely powerful synth, and very easy to dial in a great sound, too. Monark sounds absolutely splendid to me - it has that bark of a real Mini. I love it.

Not that I have any interest in defending a softsynth which I haven't ever used, or to extend this thread, but to be fair, that one sounds like a somewhat strained and unnecessary attempt to make Diva look superior to Monark (which it may well be, of course): Reaktor can also be used as a VST, and as such that seems more an advantage than a disadvantage, imho.

Also, one could say that (at least some parts of) the architecture of Monark can be *unlocked* to be studied, modified and combined with other creations by the end-user, exactly because it is built and distributed for use in Reaktor. Another advantage rather than a disadvantage, in my book.

Its an advanrage to have to buy reaktor and monark?

The unlocking is a myth, you wont get to touch any of the good bits.

Here's an impression of me opening a synth up in Reaktor.

Ok, let's have a look at this... Oh, this isn't so bad... *clicks on a block to see what happens* *a whole new layer of complexity is revealed*... Ok... *does it again*... yikes! ...*5 layers of complexity down the screen now resembles a massive circuit board*.. I think I'll just play some Minecraft >_< :hihi:

From the demos I've seen I really like its sound.

So, I think I'll be picking it up at some point. I'd prefer if it was not linked to Reactor, but I have Komplete. So it's not too much of an issue for me.

I'll grant you that indeed (1) it is only a technical advantage, not a monetary advantage; and (2) that the inner workings of some good, probably the very best bits will remain out of touch. I'll even say that most users probably are not really interested in peaking under the hood at all.

However, (1) is irrelevant to the many people who already own it - and isn't there something like a free Reaktor playerfor the rest? And (2) (even though it was already implied for the attentive reader) does not mean at all that it is completely useless to study and modify it. Diva simply does not enable you to do anything like that, exactly because it is 'only' a VST plug-in.

The point I was trying to make, and must have been clear even without attempts to qualify my statements with all too much subtle nuances, is that the very long and one-sided list above really did not need such a strained and unnecessary attempt to add any more points in favour of Diva's over Monark. Given your completely one-sided attempt to go on defending it, my point firmly stands.

Never mind, though, as I don't really care about arguing the point. Again, I have no interest in defending some future product that I do not know much about, especially in the forum of another developer, that I also happen to like much better. Can we just leave it there? :)

The demos for Monark sound god-awful.

Maybe the actual synth sounds positively lovely but the demos sound like an EDM producer with ADHD forgot to take his meds and rammed the signal into a shitty compressor until it begged for mercy and then called it a day because it was "gritty" sounding... and we all know gritty means analog. :dog:

Which stands in stark juxtaposition to NI's update to Battery, which was a super-f**king badass decision. Someone was doing something right with that one. Monark? Maybe not so much.
Snare drums samples: the new and improved "dither algo"

lets be realistic, this thread is just increasing Divas public image

Yes, I'm sure they could have shown it in a much better light. Monark deserves some non-EDM demos, I think.
