Thanks for this Beautiful and inspiring sound library, I mostly do my own sound design and rarely buy sound banks or use It.
I have to say this one is really stunning! Full of interesting samples presets and Fantasy, A source of inspiration.
One more time, thanks for your Alchemistry.
Regards,
David

Thank's a lot for the flowers, David. Being a source of inspiration is the best feedback, a sound designer could get :)

Hi Simon,

I am aware this is an older thread, but I wanted to ask you if there are any plans to release Alchemistry library to work with Alchemy Player FREE? Or as wav files (which can be used with Alchemy FREE although not as intuitive).

Love the sounds! Been looking for a credible cello for weeks, best ones mostly work with full Kontakt NI, or full Alchemy, or Halion, etc.

Regards,

Andre

Hi Andre,

Unfortunately I can't release libraries for the Alchemy player, only Camel Audio can, it's their marketing vehicle, not available to 3rd party developers like me.

There is a SoundPack with the cello samples from Alchemistry (plus a few extra ones) here, further up on the page there is also a SoundPack with the violin samples from Alchemistry Beyond.
Then there are quite a few excerpts from my Alchemy libraries for Kontakt.

Thanks for the quick reply, Simon... !

I'm listening to the Soundpack, but it's mostly experimental stuff, isn't it? As well, I'm looking for a cello to lay over a piano track I have, so I need to be able to "play" the cello myself.

Which sampler would be able to play your sounds with a minimal investment? (Sorry, it's not the best of times to make big purchases right now...) I'm looking at Padshop for which you did a few libraries. I'm listening to Granular Symphonies - would it contain the violins, female voices, etc?

Regards,

Andre

Yes, the cello pack consists of more experimental textures, the violins are multisampled. Granular Symphonies contains both, phrases and textures as well as patches made with single note samples in various articulations, which could be layered with piano. But Padshop only uses one sample per layer and it's granular, if you're looking for multisampled realism, that won't cut it. Granular Symphonies also contains a plethora of other instruments besides the vocals and string instruments, it's one of my largest sound design projects ever.

I think your best "minimal investment" to play many of my sounds would be Alchemy, although I am currently expanding into MachFive 3 (just released my first lib for it) and HALion 5 (lib coming in January), as I love those all-in-one-instruments which can do almost everything: sampling, granulating, various synthesis forms - MachFive and HALion are probably the most advanced in that respect. As soon as Alchemy is updated to version 2, I will continue to develop libraries for it.

That's quite an ambiguous answer now...

If you need a free cello, this was hyped:

I use VSL Solo Strings extended if I need a real cello and can't hire a cellist, great cello in the VSL lib, but it's expensive.

"Hm... Fascinating, Jim..." (Spock)

When I listen to the demo on http://www.patchpool.de/padshop_granular_worlds.html, the sounds come out quite good. The Granular Symphonies ( for Padshop PRO 1.1.0.134) would be a better investment than Granular Worlds then because it contains also acoustic instruments, if I understand correctly.

I got Padshop demo for 30 days, and I love the Granular World bank. If I was to get Granular Symphonies, can I resave the samples I like into a wav file (Kontakt allows for this, I believe...)?

I came back to music after a silence of about 8 years, and technology has exploded in amazing ways. Unfortunately, I bought into the EastWest myth and spent my initial budget on their Composer Collection, which today I realize was a big mistake. And you can't resell these, so that was the pit. I could have gotten so much more had I gone a different way. Now I know better, and creators like you allow us to have access to so much more.

Thanks again, you have a very inspiring sound palette, and I am looking forward to use your work in mine... :tu:

I totally agree with the reviews on this one! But once again: Kontakt FULL version. I found a good cello in EastWest, but the attack is a different animal, not very realistically emotive, so I may need to bury it a bit in some pads or change my dynamics altogether, play less notes...

Thanks for the tip!

The Granular Symphonies samples are distributed by Steinberg in a vstsound-container, you can't resave the samples or use them outside Padshop Pro.

None of my sound libraries on patchpool are protected or encrypted (although the upcoming HALion 5 lib will also use the vstsound-container as it's the only practical way to distribute it), the wavs of all my libs can be used in other samplers or directly in your DAW.

Granular Worlds has a different approach, focussing more on pads and soundscapes (also some real instruments are in there like Okarina, flute and more), Granular Symphonies focusses mainly on acoustic instruments and some field recordings and their derivatives. Then there are the other Banks for Padshop Pro on patchpool, Cosmic and Droneland, the titles are somewhat self-explanatory.

8 years are like being away for an entire life in terms of the evolution of audio software, don't be too angry about the East West debacle, it's too late anyway.

Most excellent, Simon, I just purchased Granular Worlds. I'll be following the release of your other banks. I'll be back for more I know that!

Thanks for the words of wisdom... seldom do I learn something the easy way... this one is no exception. I was impressed with many of the sounds, and reviews, but then realized for someone like me who doesn't read or write music, no formal training, the world of sampled instruments may require much more work to figure out how to use all the articulations and transitions. I come from the world of D-50, 01/W and Trinity. The access to VSTis is new for me but how gratifying...

I'm revisiting and remastering my 4 instrumental albums and this project serves as a canvas for me to relearn and get up to date, discover and develop a new workflow and toolbox. I'm grateful I can be here today!

Ah, just got the download link, thanks!

All the best, Simon,

Andre

‘Alchemistry Beyond’ is quite simply a magical set of sounds. Once again, Simon Stockhausen has created evolving, morphing timbres that are a warm, organic and, (most importantly), very usable in a mix. ‘Violin 4 Bows’ has to be up there with my top 10 patches of all time and there are many other excellent ones as well.

Composed using just ‘Violin 4 Bows’:

With its intuitive GUI and huge breadth and depth, Camel Audio’s Alchemy has rapidly risen to number one on my list of favourite VSTs and this sound set takes advantage of its strengths with great attention to detail – just automate those X/ Y pads for starters!

What a great read! Thank's so much for the detailed feedback. I'm just listening to your beautiful piece and I love it, so delicate and fragile. It's always a gift to hear those sounds in action.
