I often work with heavy chains of effects making long evolving landscapes and it always makes my computer a little bit sad.
The "freeze" function in a DAW has always been a used a lot by me and thats the only thing i miss in Mulab.
The way i get around the problem is that i mixdown the tracks i want to be "frozen" one at a time.
That works but it is a little bit annoying, frustrating and time consuming.
I understand that a freezefunction is a little difficult to implement, if its hard technically or if its hard too get the function work well with the Mulab graphical interface, i dont know.
My Suggestion is that when you choose "mixdown audio" under the session button, you get a few more alternatives.
I would like that you are given the possibility to mixdown the tracks to separate audiofiles.
With the interface a little bit like the audiosetup actually...
Choose track....choose channels (stereo/mono)...choose 16/32 bit.
If you want to mixdown more tracks, just press the green little "Add track" button.
The mixdown files is going to be placed in a subtrack under the original track
How is that idea?
Regards.
Suggestion about mixdown functionallity

I totally agree... That freeze is important and one of the main thing that stops me from using MuLab.
The other things that is important is to me is groove and loop handling, punch in and colour settings in the interface rather than to dig deeper inte the Mux.

Well, i use Mulab all the time for everything.
The multicore thingy was a good thing indeed, but i still have to invest heavily in a new computer soon.
That is a bad thing.
My computer isnt the newest in the market and a mixdown like my suggestion or a freeze function would be worth a lot of money to me.
It would be easier to run mulab on older computers with this kind of stuff.

Yes freezing is on the wishlist. Basically the functionality is already there via Mixdown Audio. So this topic is about extending that functionality. It's not a little topic. Currently i'm focusing on other things (MUX related) and so i can't comment on an ETA for this.
