No! You don't have any reason to be! Your roadmap is perfectly fine!
I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings again, Urs.
No worries.

I'm just overall frustrated at the moment, it's just so that everything takes way too long.
I'm sad to say but that makes you kind of a project manager personality. Speaking from experience ;-)

Urs, I think people really appreciate what you're doing as well as what you're trying to. Yes, I'm eager to get more UHBIKs in my hands, as well.. But I found Zebra and ACE to be fine distractions in the meantime.

When I purchased UHBIK, it was a LOT of dough for me. And I was only interested in FX back then and hoping for frequent additions as well - i kind of understood UHBIK to be a growing product. But having said that, your plugins have tought me a lot so I definitely consider it money well spent. And it got me interested in synthesis, not sure if that's a good thing, just saying :-)

I thought you guys announced that you were going to have an announcement about announcing two new Uhbiks? So, 2014 may be "The Year of the Uhbik? Perhaps at least a non-beta version of 1.3 will sneak out this year. I'll settle for that at this point. OK, I've posted plenty about this in other threads. I'm not as bitter as I probably sound, either, just sad.
Pressure has no effect if factors beyond my control don't allow for a solution.

I try to do things right, but it isn't always possible - time being the biggest issue at hand.
Don't let the pressure of impatient users distract you. Do your best job and as usual it will pay off.

All of your work is worth the asking prices too. :)

Waiting for years is certainly not "impatient." It's quite the opposite, in fact. I will cop to "user," though. Better that than "used." In the spirit of Uhbik posts lightening, I would suggest that Urs do his best to try not to think about Uhbiks, especially when eating, drinking, walking, driving, falling asleep, operating heavy machinery, etc. Whatever you do, just don't think about them at all. No good will come of it. Do not think about Uhbiks. Do not think about Uhbiks. I kid. You can think about them.

Uhbiks, used as intended, are absolutely safe.

But the REAL question is when Urs & Co. will release Zebra for iOS!

Good to see so much going on, guys! Have been enjoying Zebra since initial release, and delighted that Urs' imagination still percolates.

Sewriously, though: iOS? ANY plans? Ever?

You did such beautiful work with the GUI on Ace, and I'd love to see a GUI like that for Zebra. I understand you work from a very long list. :)
There's another thread here where I kind of talked about this.

I've redesigned Zebra several times in the past, and each time it became so tedious that I simply stopped at some point - which was the point of "good enough" rather than "here we go!"

The main problem is, there's loads of modules that need individual background graphics. This requires a workflow where things are prepared in 3D-software, refined in Photoshop and laid out in our editor. Usually it starts with the layout in the editor, then recreating it in either 3D-software or Photoshop and then wading through an endless journey of swapping files between each. In other words: It's tedious.

So throughout the years I developed a concept for our user interface framework that incorporates most of the functionality of Photoshop we need, and basic 3D-rendering among a few other things. We can now gather user interface elements in layers with various standard effects and alphablending modes. We can fill things with gradients, do high-quality bitmap resize and colour/gamma corrections. We can render spheres and boxes with multiple light sources and a sufficient range of material options. I'm still working on soft shadows on cylinders and cones required for knobs though, and I haven't mastered anisotropic shading for brushed metal surfaces yet.

Anyhow, the idea is that bypassing 3D-software and Photoshop makes for a phantastic workflow. Changes can be implemented and viewed within seconds. This and some other improvements will make things much better for Zebra.

I'm working like mad on Bazille's interface because this is the first one to take full advantage of this. it won't be there 100% for Messe, but it will be in the weeks thereafter :-)
So I guess that means the graphics are going to scale without aliasing?

I was going to ask if this was done in modo... amazed to find you built the engine yourself. I know you're talking about the programming end, but I found these tips useful for anisotropic shading:

Urs Heckmann in Velocity Sensitive.

I think it needs a Hans Zimmer soundtrack.

Urs -

Thanks for your reply. I'm thrilled with Zebra as-is - the demo was on my drive for months and I fired it up one day to realize how CPU efficient it is and purchased it instantly. I'm still wrapping my heard around sound design in it, but the capabilities are astounding. With a freshened UI, I could see it (and Diva of course) being my two "go-to" synths.

That's part of the idea.

It's not like you get much aliasing with the current resize method, but you get a lot of blur.

Actually, Thomas did the rendering in Lightwave - it's downsized from a 1.8GB file we're printing on 8 squaremeter for the trade show. I wasn't going to add depth of field or even a perspective camera to our framwork

Thanks for the tips - I found out how to do anisotropic knob caps, but I'm not sure I'll make it before Messe.

Today I hope to do the final touches on the new Diva components. The knobs for the Uhbie Filter and Digital Osc will still be rendered in 3D software, but the panels might be homegrown.

I hope Sascha gets his knobs and backgrounds today so we can put the final skin over Satin. If time permits, we use the preliminary ui of Presswerk and add the same knobs. We might need to do that Tuesday night after constructing the booth.

We'll see...

Man Lightwave does great renders when I was getting into CGI I wanted to buy Lightwave for it's advanced in direct light simulation abilities. Can't wait to hear DIVA do a real supersaw pad and see the new synth GUI.
