Yeah, Lightwave is pretty good.

I'm using it since 1999 (before that I used Cinema 4D), left it for Softimage XSI in 2004, got massively annoyed by Autodesk when they bought it from Avid, tried modo for a while and recently returned to LW mostly.
They have been through some rough times when the main team left and founded Luxology (modo) many years ago, but lately - since Rob Powers took over - it's shaping up very nicely once again.
If you like the swiss army knife approach, there's hardly anything you can't do with it.
And the renderer is one of the best.

The big version Urs refers to above is 20432 x 14526 Pixels large BTW.

Biggest rendering I ever did... :-)

Can't wait to see the big print of it!

Cheers,

Tom

No word about RE versions of Presswerk and Satin? Come on... :)

Not sure... we yet have to release Runciter and Uhbik-T. Both are finsihed, but teh SDK got updated and I'm not sure if they still compile.

A Satin-like tape emu might be possible, but we can't mimic all controls in RE. E.g. the Grouping functionality isn't possible and neither is the way we implemented the flanger. Hence no promises at this point.

Great things lined up. Can't wait!

May I suggest that such a huge print of such a lovely GUI would make a great prize for a patch contest or something similar?

Not sure I should drag the conversation back to uhbik, lol, but a nice transient shaper would fit the bill I think. Dominion 2! :)

So what exactly is Bazille then is it analogue? How does it compare to the other U-he synths what can it do that they can't loving the sound of the beta.

Post

Bazille is a phase distortion/frequency modulation synth.

plus quite a bit more :)

It's a modular PD/FM synth. It puts classic *digital* synthesis beneath the paradigm of analogue modulars.

Thanks Urs and Evil I'll get doing some reading on those.

Bazille can be wired freely in all sorts of configurations. The inputs are at audio rate so you can, for example, modulate the filter cutoff by an osc output, by the output of the filter itself and various combinations. You can also feed the filter output back into its input and do things like modulate an osc's frequency by its own output. The sequencer pattern selector can be modulated at audio rate so the sequencer itself can be a sound source. Likewise you can use an oscillator as an LFO.

Then you have a group of modifier modules such as lag generators, quantizer, sample/hold, rectifier etc. These can be used to modify signals. The multiples are used to combine various signals in different ways.

Bazille is unique in the soft synth world. There is nothing quite like it. The sound quality is noteworthy.

Preliminary screenshot of new modules:

Needs some fine tuning and one tune mod knob is missing, but still, you'll catch the drift 8)
