Running 32 bit on 64 bit with problems

Because all but one of the developers of the VSTs i use don't support 64bit i've been using 32 bit version of Mulab. However, when I run mulab and try to open the menu bringing up modules I get an error about it loading the C (programming language) library wrong. It turns out that the only real way to solve this without dual booting my laptop is to put Mulab under the x86 (32 bit) program files folder. However, I have been advised not to put Mulab there due to permissions it needs to work.

Any suggestions?

From what I can tell this error doesn't affect how Mulab works. The biggest issue is that it's an annoyance when ever first load a menu

Please post a screenshot of that error alert.

I run MuLab from the Program Files (x86) folder and have no issues. You could set the permissions of the MuLab executable to "Run as Administrator".

I'm already running it as admin because of a VST synth I use

EDIT:
Just tested Mulab under the x86 folder and I still get the error

Strange. Just tested M5.1.0 on Win 7 64 bit, no such problem. Which version of Windows is that?

Can you please also do this test:

* Quit MuLab
* Rename your MuLab/User/Settings/VstPlugins.Xml to VstPlugins.Muted
* Launch MuLab

Does the error pops up as before?

If not, then it's cause by a VST plugin.

Just to be complete, do this to get back your VST plugins:

* Quit MuLab
* Rename MuLab/User/Settings/VstPlugins.Muted back to VstPlugins.Xml
* Launch MuLab

I'm also getting this error with Orion. Maybe it's a system error?

Tested, not caused by a VST. I'm on windows 7 professional 64bit. It may be due to some other applications editing windows? I tested with Mulab 64bit and I don't have this error.

Seems to have to do with Visual C++:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... s.80).aspx

Seems to be an ancient error, some Google results on it are from 2005.

You are using Synthmaster judging from your signature. I remember downloading the demo version and it never worked, always crashed my DAWs. Maybe it has to do with Synthmaster.

This error is not MuLab related...

Everyone, who gets this error have Ableton Live 9 installed...

This error comes from the broken rewire system of Live 9...

To test this:

Remove the registry entry : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Propellerhead Software\ReWire\Ableton Live Engine

Don't worry... as soon as you start Live 9 it will create this entry again...

But to test this, don't start Live after deleting the registry key and before testing in MuLab or other DAWs...

You should run your DAW as administrator for SynthMaster to work correctly, if it is installed under Program Files.

BTW, the error dialog above has nothing to do with SynthMaster.

Ableton causes this. Hmm. Would uninstalling ableton fix this? (I'm trying the demo of it to see if I want to get Bitwig so getting rid of it wont affect me)

Synhtmaster is fine! I'm already running as admin and no problems with it what so ever. Well other than the fact I can't get the vocoder working properly but that's not a discussion for this forum.

I'll uninstall Ableton and see how it goes

Thanks for the help!
