Yeah it's a very harsh sounding synth.

Re: the LFO, I'm thinking they intend the sequencer to be used for tempo synced stuff. (notice the preset wave shapes righ below the seq)

If you DO want to use the LFO, just calculate the hZ (or ms) to tempo.. a handy tool like this will do the job. http://web.forret.com/tools/bpm_tempo.asp

I'm curious. Is everyone here using the BE monophonic version ?

Will be interesting to see how people deal with that limitation.

Using BE version here. So far have been able to do what I want. Might be the first time the Cubase freaze feature is used though

.... also use this "single-phonic"-version ...
the "classic way" to bring it up to polyphonic is to use three or four or more instances for one single instrument and a very very small chorus in one or two of these instances ...
just have no other idea .... but i think it's not necessary (i hope its the right word) to "widen" it up ... this instrument lives it's own life, like no other i know ...
this is a (nearly) horrible challenge for me ...

Yeah, REAPER has some tricks to help with that a little; it's still a bit of a pain to set up the "single" patch.

But... this synth sounds awesome!

... you are right! Chorus is not allowed ...
try to use instead of a "chorus" a very short delay and a little pitch shifting ... see WIKI

.... Aalto is a bit crazy ... or like that. I don't have the right word for it ... Sometimes it has its own will and in an other moment it makes exactly what i want ....

Here is my current problem:
I try to do some sixteenth-notes for a hihat track, made some good sounding hihat from scratch and wrote midi note events with different velocity. Project tempo is 120 bpm. To avoid one continuous sound I shortened the notes a bit.

Now there are random notes that don't play. I tried to make all notes equal in velocity, tweaked the sound (gate, envelope and such). No solution. I tried some other sounds from the presets. Same as with my patch. Random notes not played.

If I slow down the bpm there is a point where everything is played. Hm, strange.

Have you got any clues if I am doing something wrong?

I have Behringer Truth B2031s . Would like to get something better one of these days. I do most of my work on headphones, AKG K340s, and ear buds when I'm out and about on the laptop which is when I do most of my composing, I have some Ear Candies that are way to bassy. I try to check the tracks on different systems before I consider it finished.

I've got some rather cheap 2satellites+sub-woofer setup with the brand name 'Gravity' on it. Junk, I am sure, but it works well for my surrounding. A very small room stuffed with masses of paper. The room sound is absolutely dry. I have turned the sub-woofer on just a tiny little bit to make the sound from the satellites rounder.
I have listened to some rather expensive studio monitors which didn't sound so much better to coax me towards buying the real deal. I must admit though that my system sounds plain awful in bigger rooms with more bare walls.
Sometimes I use AKG phones which are of good quality and often I check my mixes in different surroundings.

It sounds as though you've got overlapping notes but it's not voice-stealing - how long is the release envelope? Does the situation change if you reduce the envelope times to a minimum? I haven't tested it, but that's the first thing I thought of.
