Problems with MuLab 5.1.0

I recently bought a new Windows 7 64 bit based desktop PC with a RME soundcard installed. I installed MuLab 5, as well as Omnisphere and PadShop Pro..but the 64 bit version of MuLab won't let me choose the audio driver from the drop-down list..which only shows NONE / ASIO / MME AUDIO..but there is no mention of the RME card driver. Maybe this isn't meant to show up..I'm not really sure.

When I click on one of the 3 offered options, nothing happens and the choice remains on NONE.

I then uninstalled the 64 bit version of MuLab and installed the 32 bit version, which runs fine, but Omnisphere and PadShop Pro are marked as "Disabled", which I'm guessing is due to them just not being compatible with the 32 bit version of MuLab.

I then uninstalled that and reinstalled the latest 64 bit updated version / patch, but still the issue remains.

Can somebody please tell me how to sort this issue out, so I can actually (a) get the 64 bit version of MuLab to work and (b) how and where to install Omnisphere and PadShop Pro, so they both work with the 64 bit version of MuLab?

Hope somebody can help me sort this out soon.

Hi
Mulab 64 bit uses a 64 bit audio engine and if there are not drivers for 64 bit, specially made for the soundcard ..than there is no driver.
Probably you can still use 32 bit drivers in the 64 bit audio engine of Mulab, but not the other way around.(using 64 bit driver in the 32 bit audio Mulab engine).

The best way to solve this is to use Asio 4 All (Asio soundcard virtualization). It works on my 64bit system.

MME should work too, but I don't recommend use of it. Audio input doesn't work with MME and you don't get as many sample rate options.

The one disadvantage to Asio is that you can only have one audio output on your computer while its on. Basically means any other applications with audio output need to be stopped or closed before using Asio with Mulab, otherwise there will be no out out from Mulab.

If Asio 4 All doesn't work than you may need to step down to 32bit.

Perhaps you can use the asioserver from steinberg!

Thanks guys for the advice and suggestions.

Since I posted, I've taken the 64 bit version off my system and reinstalled the 32 bit one...then reinstalled PadShop Pro and the 32 bit version of Omnisphere in the x86 programs folder and both now work fine..as does MuLab 32 bit. In short, I stepped down to 32.

Having said that, I just want to point out that the driver for the RME card I have is supposed to be good for both 32 and 64 bit systems and I would hate to have to use another driver instead. Forgive my ignorance, but if I did go with ASIO 4 ALL or something else..I take it the audio would still be processed by the RME card and still keep its quality?

In the case of Asio 4 All yes it will keep the same quality

I am running Win7 64bit, Mulab5.1 64bit and RME Fireface UC (driver version1.025). Padshop Pro works fine here.

In the Mulab Audio Setup i have:
Audio Driver Type: ASIO
Audio Driver Name: ASIO Fireface USB
All RME ins and outs show up fine.
