EVERY time I see this thread I read the title as "A new computer to use Diva has arrived" :hihi:

I guess because I bought a new computer to run these modern powersynths I'm projecting that :hihi:

LOOOOL!

Urs & his team are very smart!

they have modded all of the sound!

no idea how much circuit modding is done (if even any) but they did an outstanding job as has been proven on the old Diva vs analog threads

The New & Improved U-he team are making some real waves already & they have only just started!

can't wait to see what the newest member ads to the pallet!

It's black and goes really fast :hihi:.

Intel Core i7-2500K CPU @ 3.40GHz (it's a quad core and overclocked 4x, no idea if that's reflected in this information!). Since the multicore update Diva rarely makes a dent, unless I'm doing pads, and even then it's totally managable at something like 7% for a decent pad arrangement with 8-10 notes polyphony. It's rare I ever need to switch out of divine mode.

Let see what will happened CPUwise with the new feature coming, though it won't necessarily be significant on that point (arpegiator, for instance...)

(obviously it never bugged u as u was always happy with softsynths...but personally it makes me cringe).
I would love to hear a direct comparison of the same filter (without any nonlinearities) one time with the usual 1 sample delay, and one time with zero delay feedback.

ok dudes i bought monark and here it goes
things i liked more in monark so far

-the feedback/load combo
combine FEEDBACK with LOAD and u get a miriade of many rich distorted tones. really nice. it's a must have feature imo. Feedback B (when the letter B is showing) in particular is very useful for straightforward distortion and less swampy than the other feedback type which btw seems more similar to the diva one.

-the noise generator (white noise almost equal, pink noise much better in monark)
i complained about divas white noise being too bright and brittle and not full bodied enough...but actually the white noise in monark has more highs than diva (maybe less britle) and doesn't even have any more body than the diva has. i would say the difference is marginal in the white noise department but still a little tiny nudge towards monark.
the pink noise.....while the diva one seems to be just white noise minus the high frequencies....the monark one brings in shit loads of bass content (that is not present in the white noise) making it massive. here the pink noise of monark is really an added weapon.

- the FM...can't get the 2 to sound identical ...diva's more flexible for sure but but . i'll pass my judgment on this till i made more tests

for now this i noticed...

Post

about the FM
in monark:
oscillator 3 set to SQUARE set to 8'octave volume 0
oscillator 1 set to SAW set to 2'octave volume 100%
set with the modulation wheel FM to full

in diva (corresponding settings):
oscillator 1 SQUARE set to 8'octave Volume 0
oscillator 2 SAW set to 2' octave volume 100%
set FM to...hm .no matter the amount it will never match and will have some sort of lower tone to it. i think maybe aliasing issue?

if someone could look into it please :help:

btw tonight i conducted a miriad of tests ...diva and monark really sound identical for the most part (apart from the differences posted above).

one thing i noticed was the square wave slightly different but morphing diva's square to 7.10-7.15 kinda matched it
