+1. However I will say that while Reaper isn't my main DAW, it seems to have one of the better multi-core engines, handling demanding processes like Diva with remarkable ease.

All DAW summing algorithms are the same / neutral, except for options such as Harrison Mixbus and Propellerhead Record, which offer additional console saturation that can't be turned off.
I do not agree with that statment. There was done some blind tests by big preffesionals and with golden ears and they piced up Samplitube on second place and on the first place was Studio One as the most neutral and clearest sounding DAW,but Samplitube was very close to Studio One.
And to big supprise on the Lastest places was ProTools,Cubase ,Reaper and etc... i belive there is something special in summing algorythms and also headnlyng plugins which i hear but i cannot explaing why that heppens, and probably all major DAW developers know that problem but they do not speak about it, but if they want to improve that it means they need to rewrite a code from ground up so unfortionaly a belive if Protools, Cubase and others did not developed a good code in the first place, it means it will never improve because they will need to rewrite the code from ground up which probably they won't do because all what they care is money but not how good music will be made with their software, unfortionaly.

and also in palying back audio files software. Look at Amarra player, there is something megical done by them so music vs regular iTunes player or others players sound more clear. There is not EQ and on on spectrum analiser they are both identical but with Ammara player music sound more clear so no metter what sayies theory or real life thre is a difference.

p.s.
But i agree, it is a Uhe MusikMesse thread so no offtopic anymore. If sombody want to continue this dessusion they can creat a thread in a propiat forum location. :)

Good call, something we can all agree on. Lets move on.

Still really looking forward to Satin and the Diva update.

the update to Diva is superambitious and is going way beyond what was expected.
i'd really like paying for it if it helps deliver everything to its fullest potential.maybe a superlow preorder update price would be just the right compromise.
obviously who purchased diva when update was already announced or buys it now shouldn't pay.
what you guys think?
if not an option i suppose i could always buy another u-he product tosupport....i'm actually waiting for some info on presswerk...as long as it can do also dbx 160 kinda compression i might jump on it.

on mobile right now, so just in a hurry:

1. we used reaper simply because of size and ease of install. we went from station to station with a usb stick directly as the messe doors opened. no other preferences involved.

2. updates to existing products are free within their determined lifespan. at least with diva currently (urs, is that right?)

3. presswerk can be any compressor you want it to be. as with satin, it's sort of a construction kit.

And here you have the man from Camel Audio put some truth into ya, chilly. But we all know reasoning with you is next to impossible, right? :)

Well said.

I don't have time for DAW wars or extracting information from cryptic posts. Any further posts that derail this thread will be deleted.

How are you feeling, Urs? I can image those Musikmesse days must have been pretty exhausting for the u-he team! Still re-charging I guess?

That's great ! So it can do : FET, OPTO, VCA ?

But what about a Neve 33609 for example, which as a distinct saturation going on ;) ?

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to it.

Any chance to have a look at the GUI and the controls ?

Also, I know I already suggested it, but just in case it hadn't been read, I'd really like to see what you can do on equalizers, now that you have so much knowledge with analog modeling. Sure that a mastering parallel EQ with "real analog curves" (that are not f**ked up around 10K), and with an algorithm that does not have long resonances in the bass region and which prevents that "ringing" effect with high Q values, and some tube stage and transformers in/out would killer.

Post

an analog eq requires 0dff. there no ifs and buts. it's all bout filters after all.
that's why software eqs suck balls (compared to analog eqs). been saying it for ages...
don't know how feasible cpu wise is a bunch of filters running in 0dff and on different channles ...but needs to be done at some point.
