[MXXX v7.08] Some things still bothering me a bit

Hi guys,

I know MXXX is still way off in the distance but I've played with the latest beta today for quite a while. Here are some things I'm not sure have been mentioned before so I'll mention them now:

1) Can we please have each processor report it's latency properly INTERNALLY within MXXX? Adding any kind of processor that causes latency will render the main wet/dry knob useless. Surely this can not be so difficult to achieve?

2) I'd like to be able to assign On/Off buttons for each processor into a multiparameter so that it shows up on the Active Presets front page. This would allow much easier customization for the end product user and saves quite a lot of processing power too (instead of using a built in wet/dry to turn processes off!).

3) I still get quite a lot of nasty overs when tweaking various parameters. It's very hard to find the cause and it's seemingly random sometimes. So, could we please have the option of a HARD CLIP of -0.1dB at the main output? This would at least protect the ear somewhat and would not trigger Reaper's automatic muting of a channel (it defaults to +12dBFS).

4) Would it be possible to present at least some of the graphical user interfaces onto the active presets page? It could be so that the user can't modify, remove or add anything. This would be especially welcome for some 3 band parametric EQs so that we wouldn't have to waste tons of multiparameters on simple things as frequency, Q and gain (1 band already uses up 3 m-parameters if you want to give the active preset tweaker full control of an EQ).

BUG or missing feature:

- it's still not possible to record/learn the internal modulators (LFO/env follower/pitch etc.) value and range parameters. You can assign them manually in the multiparameter just fine but trying to learn them quickly doesn't work. It makes working with the internal modulators a bit of a chore. Could this be fixed?

Other than that.. MXXX is looking like an incredible sound designer thing. Probably the most powerful multi-effect on the planet.

Cheers!

 :bang: i gave up a long time ago ... it's too big for me, there are too many possibilities. i tried to make 10 meta patches, but it always sounded crappy, because i couldn't stop. it's just too much for me. overkill.
i'm sure, it'll be the most powerful multi effect and if i can afford it, i'll buy it as a preset user, but i don't have enough skills to get something great out of it.
Sorry Vojtech!

 :)

This is actually a beast and it's real easy to go overboard with this thing :-) as so many excellent processors in your disposal. I had the privilege of beta testing and preset creation for MXXX. I love it. This is going to be an ultimate FX machine when it's released. I quite agree with bManic's point #2. I know one can disable the processor but it involves too many clicks. How about just giving a on/off switch on the processor just like the mock up image below:

It will make it easy if one wants to audition without the effect in the chain. Just a suggestion, it might be too late for requests now.

I loved it but didnt have the time to properly create shareable patches.
Ill happily buy it when released, got lots of stuff out of it I was really happy with including a nice guitar octaver and a bunch of granular stuff

I found a bug.. in the Settings (main settings of MXXX) the "modulator & automation protection" setting doesn't work properly.

Reproducible bug example:

Create a basic compressor. Now modulate that compressors threshold with modulator 1 set to envelope follower mode. Do some nice modulation of the threshold, either up or down. Then set the "mod protection" to Very High quality. Listen to that nice smooth modulation (almost audio rate I guess).

Now close the MXXX plugin GUI.

Boom.. the setting gets broken. Now it sounds like crap and everything is broken. Open up MXXX again, go to settings and change the mod protection to High, then back to very high. Now everything works again as it should. Close the GUI again and it breaks.

Cheers!

I think your proposition 1) is already implemented ?
For example the harmonizer and linear phase EQ report a latency in the window header ?
Or maybe you noticed something more specific that is not right with the latency ?

Number 2 was already mentionned for the sake of saving CPU. One problem is the connections to the processor get lost if it is turned off, so this would need to be modified too. Ctrl + click is not that hard but on/off switch on the processor is a cool idea.

I really think it's a wonderful tool. :)

Hey folks. Thanks. First of all, MXXX's power is not only in creating complicated stuff, but also in the fact, that it can host other plugins. But it will take some time ;)... Right now I'm still waiting for presets and creating more stuff into it. I'd like this to be quite perfect :).

Ok, so to the "things":

1) I'm afraid this is way more complicated than it looks - it's called automatic delay compensation and for example ProTools still don't have this implemented well! And in MXXX it is actually more complicated! It's basically one of the most complicated thing when developing a host :).
And there are just a few processors with latency, so it just doesn't seem worth all the trouble...

2) I don't understand - some more complicated schemes may contain lots of processors and the user should generally have no idea about it's internal function.

3) Why don't you just add Saturator???

4) Actually this is not really desired for some further projects - imagine you want to use MXXXs kernel, but only have like 3-4 knobs, that's it. Then these presets would be virtually useless.

5) "learning" - aaaah, I see, the few parameters are still missing. I'll add it to to-do list.

6) "reproducible bug with compressor" - hmmm, I just tried and nothing weird happened. Can you record a screen video or something??

This is turning out, to be a monster! :D Is the plugin hosting part built in yet?

Hmmm, hosing plugins, might mean that there should be a standalone version...and the that might mean a record, function will be needed?
Oh! Is there still going to be a MeldaSynth? Thanks would be just amazing!
