I've found a bug which appears to be 100% reproducible. It affects Diva and Bazille the same, not Zebra though.
If I have Diva or Bazille in an instrument rack in Ableton Live and delete it from a track or replace it with another instrument, it crashes Live. Every time.
It's quite an annoying bug actually because I store all VST instruments as an instrument rack in Live so that configured parameters are saved. So i flip through some different VSTs for a track, as soon as I load Diva or Bazille, I can't change it at that point without live crashing.
I'm on OSX Mountain Lion, using VSTs in Ableton Live 9 64bit. Don't seem to have this problem with any other VSTs.
thanks

Can you send us a Live.crash.log to support at u-he dot com?
Also, which revision do you have?

I have just sent a live crash pack.Urs wrote:Can you send us a Live.crash.log to support at u-he dot com?

I'm using Rev 1459. By the way, it won't crash if you load the plug-in directly and then rack it and delete. It needs to have been saved as an instrument rack, loaded and then deleted.
thanks

Hi, I've noticed that Live 9 crashes when deleting many different AU and VST instruments, if their plugin window is open at the time I delete it. It doesn't crash if I close the window before deleting the plugin device. Maybe give that a shot.

Aha. A bit more info. These VSTs were automapped. Disabling automap for them stopped the crashing mostly, however Bazille actually did still crash one time that I deleted the rack after, but not every time.
I also tried closing the GUI first, and that prevented the crash, even when automapped (thanks padillac).
So cloaing the GUI seems like a good workaround. However I do have over 40 other VSTs which are automapped and racked and none of them crash when deleting so it would be cool if you could look into (and Bazille did crash without automap too).
cheers

Live apparently does not deallocate a plug-in window when the plug-in is removed; a similar issue has been noticed by Magnus from Sonic Charge, and has already been reported to Ableton. He also seems to have found a workaround for the time being, though; I would guess he'd be willing to share more details with friendly devs like u-he.padillac wrote:Hi, I've noticed that Live 9 crashes when deleting many different AU and VST instruments, if their plugin window is open at the time I delete it.
