I just downloaded the demo version of Diva (rev 1459). It sounds fantastic! My compliments to the u-he team and the sound designers that made the presets. However, the cpu meter in my hosts (Cubase 7 and Ableton 9) reaches 50% when playing back just one instance of Dive. Is this normal on a 8 core MacPro? It's 4-5 years old, but still....?

yep thats normal, it's a cpu-killer. make sure your accuracy is set to "fast".

I think it depends on how many voices you are using, not how many instances.
My previous desktop computer was a 8core Nehalem based MacPro and I could run more than a few instances of Diva if I was only playing one or two notes at a time with short release settings. This was before Diva had multi-core support. Now I use a 12core westmere based MacPro now and I can use a handful of Divas without breaking a sweat. :)

If you are playing big chords, have multi-core mode disabled and using pad sounds with long release times you might use 50% of a single core with one instance. It also depends on the buffer size and sample rate you are using.

Thanks both of you. To ensure further development of this really nice synth I thought I better get the activation code NOW! I'll deal with the lack of cpu later. :)

Try other hosts which have much better multicore support, like Reaper. :P

I guess I'm too sentimental to break up long-time relations over a few extra % of CPU. It's more likely I'll stick to two track-songs from now on.

reaper is great but the last time i evulate it with diva i had drop outs much more then with cubase.
