The Dark Zebra - Tip (Stereo Filter Solved)

Hi Urs I have a question that is really bothering me,
why the diva filters into the dark zebra are actually altering so heavy the stereo image?
for example I did a very wide supersaw patch (with the enhancer) when I put a diva hpf or vcf the stereo image is so narrowed that I need an external stereo expander...

Diva filters are not stereophonic, IIRC.

Yep! The Diva filters are mono.
You could split your sound into two lanes and use 2 filters to get a stereo signal path.
Cheers

Would be difficult to manipulate the filters together at once on multiple osc,Bronto Scorpio wrote:Yep! The Diva filters are mono.

You could use a stupid trick:xanderevo wrote:Would be difficult to manipulate the filters together at once on multiple osc,Bronto Scorpio wrote:Yep! The Diva filters are mono.

Set the cutoff freq of both filters to the lowest value, add MMix1 into one of the filter modulation slots and turn the modulation amount all the way up, set ModMix1 to "sum modulations" mode.
Now you can use (and modulate) the "Const" knob of ModMix1 to control both filters.
Like this:

You can download the preset here.
I hope this helps!
Cheers

Good tips gents, but having stereo versions of the filters would still be a valuable addition, imho. MIDI learn would not work with using the GUI controls directly; and there is a limited number of MMix, while one would ideally want to synchronize all filter parameters. But, fwiw, another (similarly imperfect) workaround I can think of is: using the host to do stuff like linking parameters in REAPER; or assigning them to the same Macro knobs in an Instrument Rack ('Group') in Live.Bronto Scorpio wrote:You could use a stupid trick:xanderevo wrote:Would be difficult to manipulate the filters together at once on multiple osc,Bronto Scorpio wrote:Yep! Stereo versions would kill your CPU.

Of course, fair point. However, that also goes for running two instances in parallel.EvilDragon wrote:Stereo versions would kill your CPU.
I'm all for killing entire generations of CPU's btw - if the Diva demands something better, the Diva will get something better. Eventually.

Moore's law has been through a decline lately, since it's not about CPU speed anymore...

I heard that's not what the CEO at ASML showed some engineers today.EvilDragon wrote:Moore's law has been through a decline lately, since it's not about CPU speed anymore...

Yep, the Moore Law of the future is basically retaining the speed, increasing the number of cores, and reducing power consumption.

I am not sure about this, but I think my tower can already handle the load, I doubt there will be stereo filters as they are modeled from mono units.... but who can say that?EvilDragon wrote:Stereo versions would kill your CPU.
Thanks for all the workarounds and yeah midi learn was a pretty obvious one and it works "well", but it doesn't get saved with the patch, so I need to map the filters every time.
Dennis sir.. that's very clever actually.Bronto Scorpio wrote:You could use a stupid trick
bravo!
assigning an additional envelope would require another mod mixer (not available) to add a bit of decay to the cutoff I suppose?
Nevermind I figured out, thank you very much you all, the stereo filters workaround works best.[/quote]
