Hello,

I have 8 midi ports coming into my computer. Six are from midi controllers. The other two are not now used. How do I get all 8 ports to show up in MUX to play a synth within Mux.

I run Mux as a VST in Cubase 6.5

Please help. :help:

MUX Vst doesn't deal with MIDI ports directly. It's the host (Cubase in your case) that connects to the MIDI ports. Also: Note that the VST 2.4 protocol only supports 1 MIDI port towards a plugin.

Hello mutools,

I was looking forward to using Mux.

Resizable GUI!
Multiple paths to VST's and VSTi's
Great engine for approving the VST's. No issues with ID numbers.
Good supply of built-in modules.
Nice looking GUI.
There are few other nice features that I liked. Grid etc.

Too bad however Mux can use only one virtual port inside it. I tried many times and only one virtual port works. I tried using the VST midi plug-ins MidiXT.dll, midiin.dll and mid2vst.dll inside Mux. They Worked great with one port but add the second port and Cubase freezes. Bidule can handle my 8 ports from MidiSport 8x8 without a midi VST plug-in such as MidiXT as it has its own modules used for this purpose. In my case I use 6 modules each with a port and midi output. Virtual or not I put a port in this case 6 ports from one to six, each having a midi channel one output inside Bidule and works great.

I am sure I am one of only a few that do things this way. Not sure why it works for me whereas the "the VST 2.4 protocol only supports 1 MIDI port towards a plugin."

Perhaps I am doing something wrong in Mux or may be my OP did not communicate my question accurately.

The VST 2 system indeed only supports 1 MIDI port to the plugin but that's a 'virtual' one. I understand that what you want to do is to have modules inside MUX that directly connect to the MIDI port drivers of your computer. That's indeed not supported by MUX.

Hello mutools,

I opened Bidule inside Mux. I put 8 midi (virtual?)ports in Bidule with midi outs. I put Mux in the INPUT ROUTING in Cubase in 4 tracks each with an instrument and all play and record properly. Not sure how much overhead I have instead of using Bidule by itself.

What I am trying to do is to have my cake and eat too.

However it would be nice to be able to open 8 midi ports inside MUX without the use of Bidule module.

It seems to work ok even if Mux is the OUTPUT ROUTING.

I am sure you are busy with other matters trying to improve on this very good modular program. So let me add this to your list of feature requests. :D
