It should be, just don't know how :(

Guys, I have the following Reaper session that demonstrates using the Vocoder:

http://www.synthmaster.com/synthmaster/ ... ample2.zip

The principle can be applied to other DAWs as well:

1. Insert SynthMaster Effect plugin on an audio track
2. Route MIDI to that track so the synth receives MIDI data.
3. Turn on the vocoder, set its effect amount to max so that only the vocoder effect is heard. It'll use the audio signal as its "modulator"
4. Try to play with attack/release settings. low attack high release works best.

EDIT: Vocoder's output is usually at a low volume. I think this is due to the bandpass filters.

Nice! After many hours I managed to do it sunday. Do you want me to create a Ableton session that demoes the Vocoder?

I'll take a look and see if i can get it to work in Mulab. I still have trouble but now I have a proper set up to look at

Ok after some experimenting I think I simply don't know how to use the vocoder. I crated an Init patch and turned on the vocoder. Then I turned the mix up and switched the Osc1 to a saw. Now I can hear the voice being vocoded but I disabled the midi input. I still hear a monotone voice. What have I done wrong?

Make sure Osc 1/2 types are NOT audio in.

What I did in Ableton Live:

Track A use a MIDI Instrument (synth, etc) or Audio (mic in, sample) as the modulator. Set Monitor In. Put SMFX on this track.

Track B use an empty MIDI track, set MIDI To Track A, Track In SMFX. Arm this track.

Enable Vocoder in SMFX, Mix to 100%, tweak the other parameters.

Still a bit quiet tho

edited for clarity.

Could someone please be so kind as to show the abridged idiot version for using the vocoder in Logic? I'm routing audio through the side chain input of Synthmaster (instantiated as an AU MIDI-controlled Effects) on an instrument track. I have the vocoder effect active on the FX page and have tried using both Audio Input and Input for the modulator, but the sidechain audio isn't playing even though I have midi data on the Synthmaster track (as well as signal coming through the selected bus). I can hear/see audio coming through the bus selected as the sidechain. I know that I have the routing set up correctly as the sidechain is working perfectly with both Waldorf Lector and Prosoniq Orange Vocoder. I think I just have something set up wrong in Synthmaster. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
