I think people who have it keep using it as long as it works, BUT: can you still recommend it to new users?

That's a tough one... at this point, I'd have to say that if you do some looking, you'll probably find things for the money that are quite a bit more powerful. Synthmaster would be a good option if you're looking for a Swiss Army knife synth.

Zebra has always been fantastic. For simple but incredibly good sounding, Diva, of course. LuSH-101 sounds sublime, but hits the CPU hard. D16 is currently hard at work on multicore support, so it'd still be a good bet if you have a bleeding edge machine.

I'm quite fond of ElectraX, as well. It's a great synth to program and sounds splendid. Alchemy is incredibly capable and a very worthy investment. I have Omnisphere (and Trilian) as well, and I love it. Expensive, but sounds glorious. Great for soundtrack work. Sounds expensive.

Again, I've been quite fond of Sylenth since the very beginning, and I can't for the life of me understand why Lennard has decided to be such a hermit and not interact with his userbase.

With him being so incommunicado for a while now, I guess that I couldn't in good faith recommend people go out and buy this still rather expensive soft synth. There are just so many other, well-supported choices out there that would be very worthwhile investments.

Ultimately, it's up the user and what they're after, what they think they can achieve with a given tool. But, for my money, I'd go with something I have a reasonably good idea will remain supported. I don't mind spending money on software, but I HATE being left high & dry by developers. These aren't guitars that only increase in value with age... software must be supported to function on new OSes.

Which brings me to an important point: I think this idiocy of the tech blogosphere that seems to encourage the abandonment of established form factors such as desktop and laptop computers in favor of mobile computing should be fought tooth & nail by creative people. I'm all for innovation, I'm all for new form factors, but this moronic, short-sighted push to abandon the tried & true could hurt a lot of creative professionals if there's no push back.

Keep buying machines with real horsepower and the developers will keep pushing the sonic envelope. Buy into the mobile hype, and watch the quality and availability of everything we've been building for years plummet...

All oscillators on one page would be nice.

I've had sylenth1 since 2008 and its still my favourite synth, I bought a few new banks recently for it...
Actually I got a lot of banks for it...
It strange , I've bought a lot of soft synths over the last 5 yrs, but every day I use sylenth1, it's my goto synth, sometimes I feel guilty for not using the large selection of other synths I have, but I can... find my self using 8 instants of sylenth1 in a tune...

I would love to see development on sylenth1 or a new product from Lenner digital .......YES...

But who knows,

1 thing or sure... I'm still using sylenth ........

Cheers,
RM

i would like a hide and show mod matrix - the current one is just to small and im reaching the limit really fast.
then i would seriously make an independent noise osc.
also some more waveforms would be awesome - or the ability to load expansion wave form files or make my own and load them.
more filter modes.
i would also pay some money extra to get this update, like 30-40€!

please show you love to sylenth1 and create sylenth2 - please.

Cheers,
Ameyah

I actually think Sylenth2 would kill the Sylenth1 phenomena, if it's not broken why replace it? Just like a Virus, it's a classic in all it's integrity, or a Moog.

No wonder so many go with the pirated version. I spend a lot of money on gear and software but as a new potential user to Sylenth1, even I'm not sure if I want to support a product developer who doesn't respond or develop.

I'm sure there are a bunch of talented developer groups who would love to buy the business from Lennard and continue from where he left it. I'll be waiting for that.

Wrong, wrong and wrong again.
LennarDigital support has always been fine for me and you always pay for a plugin for what it is now. Not for what it might become.
And Lennard's silence (which has been broken btw) is not and will never be a justification for pirating his synth.

Would you go into a music store and steal a synth because the creator of that synth
isn't in the store to talk to you?

Stealing a software synth is just as bad as stealing a hw synth from a store.
How many software companies will be left if everybody is stealing their work?

thats funny, since using it in the actual version as pirated shows that they actually using it: so why they think it's not a good idea to pay what they actually use?

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

You guys got me wrong there. I wouldn't pirate it. Using one pirated synth would kind of diminish the idea of buying others, which I do a lot (like I mentioned in my post).

Just brought up something I think is valid for some people.

I've always found Sylenth1's enduring popularity weirdly out of balance, but after testing it out a bit I think a large part of its appeal lies in the interface's ease of use and how quickly you can stack, detune, spread its oscillators without a significant CPU hit. This makes it really quick and easy to create big sounds that work so well in modern electronic music, especially when coupled with its simple, but effective onboard effects. There's nothing very special about its raw oscillators. They're simple (i.e. perfect) digital waveforms without any sort of analog modeling. The filters don't impress me that much either, but the *drive* slider makes an enormous difference on its output, acting almost like a compressor with saturation stage. I noticed the same exact thing with Reason's Thor; drive helps enormously to warm over the "digital edge" of so many virtual synths. Although I do think Sylenth1 is a little overrated, kudos to LennarDigital for producing one of the most ergonomic and efficient workhorses in the dance music world these days. :tu:

No one seems to have mentioned the primary reason for using Sylenth --- the incredible clarity and warmth of the sounds.

As far as the dev goes, I gave up on him years ago --- just plain weird not to interact with folks who buy your product and praise it so highly.

Better to sell company to someone who could continue the evolution and further develpment of this wonderful syth.
Never too old to boogie.
