I jumped too quick. After downloading parts 5-20, I refreshed my browser and parts 1-4 are now there.

Don't ya just hate it when guests arrive before you even have the beer in the fridge?

Maybe I'm early to the party, but when I got your email, I went to download the beta. It appears that parts 5-20 only are there. They downloaded fine, but it looks like you forgot parts 1-4! :o

Cheers

Ahhh, indeed, problems with upload. Check the files now, they are all there. Part1 to Part19 are around 4 Meg, Part20 is only 939k.

BTW: Keep in mind that some Sound-Sets are not for FULL-RANGE usage ok? Remember that while doing presets or testing the sounds, some will sound like crap on higher-ranges, but that's ok, since they are not usable on those ranges anyway.

Ok-crc problem corrected by downloading again. Install went fine, but there are only .snd files in EVE\EVE data\Famous Keys 4 folder. There is no Famous Keys 4.bnk in the EVE Banks folder. Should there be a .bnk? If not, how to load .snd files?

Post

Hi db--

I haven't dl'd the set yet, but I will soon. Meanwhile...

You question could be answered two ways--it sounds like you already have the .snd files in the EVE Data folder (answer #1). If you mean, "How do I load the .snd files into EVE", that's by clicking on one of the titles next to the orange A, B, and C on the gui. There are no .bnk files until someone creates and saves them from the .snd files.

All of which you probably know, but I answered anyway for those who might not. :)

And don't make the mistake I've made in the past, be sure you only have the one EVE Data folder. I had a couple due to multiple installs and EVE can't go browse for them.

Thanks for the info Tom. No, I didn't know that about loading .snd files. So far, I've used all the Famous Keys and other banks by just right mouse clicking on the led screen and selecting banks. Then I just use the arrows for changing presets or the presets menu item.

Cheers

I'm downloading now (takes awhile!). I'm interested in the pianos--and in the M1 piano since that's a synth I still own...oh, wait, I overwrote the original sounds years ago! :P

First review of the patches:
---------------------------

Patches were played with and without effects, changing EQ, send Rate, LFO's, Pitch Env, Modulator, Echo, Pan etc..

The first comment I have is that the B3 sounds are nothing like a Hammond B3. Sorry, but listen to NI's B4 ( www.nativeinstruments.de/ ), Sonic Implants B3 Soundfont: ( www.sonicimplants.com/ ) or Linplug daOrgan software demo. (Which you should be familiar with! :)

As for the other sounds, nothing jumps out and says WOW! (The other FK sets did grab your attention.)
Maybe it's just too early and they just need polishing, we'll see.

Wish I could get more enthusiastic about the set, but right now it seems rather bland.

Post

OK guess I'm next. In response to the B3, I like the waveform, keeping the fact that it is a wave form in mind. I got a feeling it will blend nicely and give that organic/rotary feel to other romps. It has a nice earthy feel to it.

I haven't been through everything, but I have noticed that I've crashed EVE twice in one minute. Can someone else varify by pressing the lowest white key in the B3_Perc ? I've done it in other patches as well. I'm not sure if this is the useless area, but it should be able to go that low.

Having just got the M-Tron, (the only thing I can compare those patches to) they are all pretty true to form. There are two flutes in the M-tron: a slightly dampend-melencholy toned low one, which is what I think I'm hearing in EVE; as well as a bright-spunky one (Strawberry Fields), I personally opt for the second (opinion/taste on my behalf...yea, yea I know, go play your M-Tron then). Then again, I haven't started blending yet, so it may be for the best.

Whats up with Odessey_05 :? Can you explain a reciepe for using that one ?

In all I liked everything with the exception of 2-3, but that was with a quick run through, I'll revisit them later.

Great Job! I'll start really playing thursday, blending a few and getting some patches, I'll get back to later.
The armchair is more than the sum of the bastards
