Galbanums pads for Rapture sound amazing. Listening to the demos now. Glad I have Rapture, got to get into it seriously soon. I am floored by how much incredible stuff is out there for us, and for $20. I don't know what to call it? Stealing?

Thanks scook, that worked.scook wrote:Don't forget to refresh the patch browser, F5 key (in windows, I don't have a MAC so I cannot help there) when the patch browser is open. Good news. All Cakewalk sfz synth browsers use the same refresh technique. You can also force a refresh of the patch browser by deleting the programs.lst file in the top level of the programs directory.mfbradt wrote:

Hmm.. I'm still skeptical. There's something about the sound I don't like. I've never been a fan of Z3ta either. It's one of those that just doesn't click with me at all.
I can appreciate how deep the thing is but no matter how you seem to tweak it, it all sounds a bit "same" to me and that'd be fine if I'd like that kind of sound character.
I'm very tempted to get it just for kicks but being this poor makes even 20 euros a hard choice. Heck, I get 20 litres of milk for the kids with that.. that's 2 weeks worth of milk!
EDIT: Seems like I'm in the same boat as VitaminD. The engine seems capable but the default oscillators in Rapture are throwing me off, or the programming of the presets. Why do I know this? Because I do seem to prefer Dimension Pro's sound and it's underlying engine is the same. I think during this promo I have to go with Dimension Pro instead, even if I know I'm limiting myself (do I REALLY need 6 elements?).
Cheers!

Directly copying the folders (bass, leads etc) to the aforementioned programs folder.. ..when i open them in rapture it says multisamples missing. I am using the bonus programs to deno, whether i want your whole set.scook wrote:Don't forget to refresh the patch browser, F5 key (in windows, I don't have a MAC so I cannot help there) when the patch browser is open. No idea.bftucker wrote:So, do you think I would be as pleased with Dimension (at this price) as I am with Rapture?GaryG wrote:Cool.
Dimension Pro for the same price too.
I don't have Rapture, only Dimension LE. For £15/$20 you get 7GB(?) of content which, if anything like the LE content, is pretty good. Nice instrument too, certainly not Kontact or Alchemy or ... but plays sfzs well.
Just need to fully checkout the wusikstation download i got for free a while back to see if I really need DimPro.

I caved in and bought it for this ridiculously cheap price, Dimension Pro that is.
Anyway, here's a warning:
According to the user agreement that you get when installing, you can NOT re-sell the software and you can only install it on 1 SINGLE COMPUTER at a time!
These are some rather serious limitations in this day and age. Had I known these (my bad, should have read the eula on the website) I would not have made my purchase.
Good thing is that I only lost 20 euros and that I know not to ever be Cakewalk's customer again. A company with these policies just doesn't do it for me.
Cheers!

You can install it on multiple computers - it does not call back home. I've tried, I have Rapture both on my laptop and my desktop. No problems.
Just shhhh, don't tell Cakewalk.

I don't know how much you could resell it for anyway if it's only 20 euros.bmanic wrote:I caved in and bought it for this ridiculously cheap price, Dimension Pro that is.

Maybe 10-15? Almost not worth bothering to sell.

Soooo... what is better: Rapture or Dimension Pro?
And for how long is this deal running actually?
Then again, the Proteus Packs are for Dimension, not Rapture. Tempting to get my XL1 back with modulation instead of going the Kontakt Route.

the email said may 31st which one is better idk I haven't played much with rapture, but to me correct me if I'm wrong it seems that rapture might be better for sound design and dimension is more of a rompler that can load sfzs and layer.

I have Rapture LE, and Dimension Pro.
Rapture is great if you're more into synth programming, and even if you don't end up using DimPro as much as your other plugins, someone mentioned the sfz's could be used in other programs, though I haven't tried that.
At this price, you could just get both.

I purchased Rapture last time there was on sale, also for 19,99 €. Didn't really use it much since then, because the problem i have with it, same as z3ta btw, is that it's not really a joy to program... i like straight forward things, and this is surely not one of them. For those who want to dive deep into it, and are not afraid to learn, it will surely offer big possibilities though.
As for the sound, to my ears, it's pretty digital, like z3ta. The filters aren't the same as z3ta's, but similar, at least that was my impression. Meaning, they don't sound particularly "warm". You get quite a varitey though due to the amount of different filter types, and they differ in character quite a bit.
Considering this is only 19,99 $ it's quite a no-brainer for what you get, if you like the sound, so better to demo it first.
