Great call on the crashing, meeks! I didn't notice it because I'm on a 61-key M1. Dropped it an octave, now I can't avoid crashing on my 1.6 gig 512 meg comp. I tried the B3 Percussive Dry from a previous sound set and it works perfectly.
I agree with your evaluation of the B3. I mixed the B3 Slow with the Odyssey 13, detuned a cent and got what I think is a nice sound I call "Graveyard Organ." That was my first try at anything. I'm trying to make a nice piano of the Piano Grand and Piano Lite but the jury is still out--though better than many soundfonts I've tried.
Without making it through the whole list, I've found a few timbre problems with the Rhodes 73, Mellotron Choir and Flute (in the middle C area). Also the JP6 Pad has major noise in the highest octive, though it may be too high to care.
All in all, I think some very nice presets will grow from these seeds!

What patches? There are no patches yet, only the Sound-Sets/Waveforms so far.db wrote:First review of the patches:
Well, they were sampled from an actual B3 with a Leslie. BUT, keep in mind that those sounds are not your regular sampled B3, there are tricks there.db wrote:The first comment I have is that the B3 sounds are nothing like a Hammond B3.
Well, let's see what the final bank of patches/presets will say, maybe that change your mind.db wrote:As for the other sounds, nothing jumps out and says WOW! (The other FK sets did grab your attention.) Maybe it's just too early and they just need polishing, we'll see. Wish I could get more enthusiastic about the set, but right now it seems rather bland.

About the crash, is a bug on EVE, when loading sounds that you can pitch-down too low. I would be carefull with that while doing presets.

Sorry, what kind of noises? Here is very clean, using headphones.Utchey wrote:I heard noises.
They are the beginning of Rhodes 73(B2-D3,G3-A3),
and the last of B3 Perc.
How is it in your environment?

They may well have been sampled from an actual B3, but if the aim was to accurately reproduce the sound of a B3, it doesn't. Listen to those other B3 vsti/samples they sound far smoother and realistic.WilliamK wrote: Well, they were sampled from an actual B3 with a Leslie. When you mix those samples to other organs, you get a good organ.
Take B3 Fast. Was it sampled with or with out the Leslie rotary type speaker? Reason that I ask is that B3 fast sounds like it is slightly out of tune.
It's like two guitar strings that are almost, but not quite in tune. I don't know if the rotating speaker could cause that or not. All I know is that real B3 recordings and the other B3 soft synths DON'T sound like that. Whatever.
Maybe indeed. I reserve the right to change my opinion if improvements are made. I'm being critical because that's what potential users will do. You won't get much useful feedback from the beta testing if we just tell you that everything is super dooper cool. Hey, I paid for th damn thing, it better be good!Well, let's see what the final bank of patches/presets will say, maybe that change your mind.![]()

I'll add my me too here as well. Exactly the same problem with a Radium 61 keyboard.meeks wrote:
I haven't been through everything, but I have noticed that I've crashed EVE twice in one minute. Can someone else varify by pressing the lowest white key in the B3_Perc ?
Hmm-the most useful playing range seems to be just above middle C for about an octave. Played there, it kind of sounds like radio static from tuning in an old tube radio. Can't see myself using THAT too often!Whats up with Odessey_05Can you explain a reciepe for using that one ?

Maybe he means the 'key click' sound. It's easy to forget that the B3 and the Rhodes were very 'mechanical' devices; both having been invented pre-1950. Thus the keys have more of a 'thunk' sound when keys are attacked and released.WilliamK wrote:Sorry, what kind of noises? Here is very clean, using headphones.Utchey wrote:I heard noises.

I have Lounge Lizard EP, and none of the Rhodes or Wurly sounds have this much key click noise. It would make sense that these would being samples.

Here is a very simple attempt to make a more or less playable organ--there are no effects, it's just the B3 Slow plus the Odyssey 13. Changed the ADSRs, balanced the volume and detuned the B3 one cent, that's all. First chords are the B3 Slow, then the Odyssey, then the final mix.
I've posted this just to encourage people that FK4 will work to make some great sounds when people with more preset skills than mine step in.

I forgot to "master" this (
) so it's likely pretty quiet.
Oh, Verizon sucks, so just try again if you get a "locked" message

Ohhh yeah, that's a good usage of the sound-sets of FK4!
Thanks bud. I will be working on presets on the next hours, so you guys can count on good quality of presets soon... Sorry that I started the beta without presets.

@William:
Just tried your bank, sounds great to me, too bad there's only 24 presets (I'm not much of a preset builder myself). Took me some time to figure out how to use it though, but I managed eventually. I love the 'Multi-Piano and Strings' preset (although it's an easy score). My judgment might be a little flawed at the moment since I've had one vodka-red bull too many already, but I'm pretty sure I'll still like this new soundset in the morning!

Thanks bud, so far only a few presets, but I'm working on more as we speak.
Tomorrow we should have the 128 bank completed for release. Hope that I can release this baby even tomorrow. So I can start working on the next bank.
