GeoBlend clipping the waveform cycle

Hi ! I'm trying to generate a pure sine using GeoBlend but I hear an overtone that's more like noise (bzzzzzz) or "clipping". I can get rid of it using the Osc FX Filter but it's strange I have to do that don't you think ?

Can you guys reproduce this on your Zebra ? Any solution to make this GeoBlend cycle smoothly through the waveform ?

thanks, cheers :)

Q: How did you draw that sine wave?

I've used the software "wav to Zebra2" and exported the default waveform which is a sine...

Which revision number is printed on the right side below the XY-Controls?

I recently fixed an issue with a missed-out sample at the end of a wavetable...

2.5.2

Is that the RTAS-Version? - In that case you might need to wait for the AAX-version.

Otherwise I think you can just download the latest version from our website and it might be fixed (will know for sure when I'm back in Europe)

I use it as a VST in Cubase 5, any fix for that bug ?

Yup, try Zebra 2.6 ;)

The waveform must have be exactly 128 samples before convert with Wave2Zebra.

Post

ok I've tried version 2.6.0 but the problem remains :(

PietW, I use Audition CS6 to draw the waveform by generating a sine wave. But 128 samples seems extremely short, how do you do this ?

Post

ok in Audition I've created a 128 samples long mono wave and to obtain a sine I had to generate a 347Hz tone. Unfortunately it still clips in Zebra...

Even worse when I fully erase the waveform in GeoBlend by Alt-left clicking which produces a sine wave sound I *still* (!) get the clipping so it's not about the import it's about Zebra itself. Strange :?

Post

I've drawn sinewaves by hand in geoblend and there was no clipping. Of course, I couldn't draw a perfect sine, but I got close enough :hihi:

It might be something to do with the import process, because there's a lot of weird scripting stuff going on behind the scenes.

Sendy, I've just tried to draw the sine by hand like you're suggesting but I still get the "buzzing" sound, I have to use a filter to get rid of it. Which version do you have ?

Post

Here you go. It's version 2.5.17.0 and what you can see in the oscilloscope is pretty much a faximile of what I drew. If anyone can draw a smoother sine wave you've a steadier hand than I :hihi:

There is a slight, almost warm buzzing which is just the overtones I unadvertantly created with my unsteady hand :) but it's nothing like clipping or distortion.

That's what leads me to believe something is going wrong with the import process.

I was going to suggest using spectroblend as a work around as you can easily draw in one harmonic and make a sine that way, but I'm guessing you probably know about that and it isn't what you want to do.
