my submission this month:
Harthstein - The Last Enchantress
created with Ableton Live
- 23 instances of Podolski
- eq, delay, compressor, limiter, room-effect by host
- big delay: epicverb by Variety Of Sound (I love this big church sound
)
- gating effect at 2:38 -> Glitch 1.3 free
At 2:39 I want insert a tapestop-effect, but this is not allowed
(pitching). Now I use EQ from Ableton Live for a similar effect.
Thank You for listening!

After all I found it wasn't such a bad idea to merge my previous submissions (Unexpectedly and Expectations) in a single track.
As a result, here's the final version of Expect the Unexpected.
It's a two parts journey into expectations and (hopefully some) surprises.
Hope you like it
Some details:
- made on Cubase 6.5 x64
- 46 Podolski instances
- host eq and comp on insert
- Tal Dub II & Magnus Ambience on send
- final retouchs on Cubase 6.5 x32, with Sheppi Free Spatial enhancer, TLs Maximizer
EDIT: the label "Kaleidosuite" refers to Folderol suggestion for "Unexpectedly" (originally "Kaleidoscope").

You had 46 all in one song/project? If not, and they were rendered out as seperate songs, and then later cut/merged together, I didn't think we were allowed to do that.bzur wrote:After all I found it wasn't such a bad idea to merge my previous submissions (Unexpectedly and Expectations) in a single track.

That's a good question. Check out this picture I made: (see just above the forum). The rules state you need to check kvr time while logged out. here's both -Davias wrote:Hello, I would like to participate in the contest but I don't see where to check KVR time. Last post I see was on 30 evening, so does it means I can still submit something till 31 at midnight ?
A few dumb questions because I will go to sleep now and will try tomorrow to finish my song (I only have one loop for now) :
Can we use EQ, filters, volume automation within the DAW ? I guess distortion cannot be used but what about saturation ? When does saturation becomes distortion ?
Thanks and good luck to everybody.
1) I'm logged in - it says it's 7:37am

2) Now I'm logged off: says it's 4:41am

My real time now is 8:45am... so I get like 4hours extra above midnight
Hope that helps?

Instead of going through all that trouble, why not run the Windows version of the DAW via Wine? (Assuming it has a Windows version)evo2slo wrote:Quick word to the sad faced mac users, I was never able to get bootcamp working well for audio, but turns out the problem was my firewire soundcard. Recently replaced it with one that connects with USB and now it's working great!
If you can get a copy of windows all you need is to create a 30-60GB partition (or maybe even less) of your HD for the windows os and host software, and you'll be back in the game!
http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
I recently switched from Linux to Mac after using Linux for 4 years. I could do everything I wanted in Linux with audio through Wine. I haven't tried a lot of DAWs, but I can definitely confirm that Reaper and Renoise work just fine and play nice with Windows vst's.
As for other DAWs, your mileage may vary, but it's always worth giving it a shot (and a lot easier / more convenient than dual booting). You could always check the Wine compatibility list --> http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... nding=true
And there's also Parallels, though I don't know how fast or well that would run.
Also I just did a little research and there is a little program called "Plugwire" which theoretically allows you to run Windows vst's inside of a Mac host --> http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2012/ ... r-mac-daw/
Now we Mac users have no reason to complain

Thanks for the answer, so I could use a waveshaper to give edge to the sound as long as the original patch is not too much morphed I guess, will try that ^^Kondarivan wrote:@Davias: https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/kvr-time
I think saturators are allowed. Otherwise they wouldn't be in the Recommended Plugins list, right? I guess the point is just not to over-use it until the synth's sound becomes unrecognizable.
About EQ, fiters and volume automation, I'm pretty sure they are legit, as long as they stick to the rules. In fact, you could just read the rules for a much more detailed description: https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/rules
Good luck!

I didn't really have time to finish my song, so I am not submitting it for the competition. However I figured I would still post a WIP here..
https://soundcloud.com/organic-io/2013- ... -flats-wip
I'll probably redo the drums now that it is outside the competition.
Hopefully I'll get something together for June.
Edit: Also, DAW is Renoise, I used about 8 or 9 instances of Podolski, and a couple internal distortions, and several instances of the Mac AU-Filter

DAW effects are fine, but no modulation effects. And like already pointed out saturation and to a degree distortion is also Ok, but a very fine line before no one can recognize the synth sound if too much distortion is used so recommend saturation only. Don't forget that even if your entry was not disallowed because it broke the 'unrecognizable' rule, people might still think you went too far and not vote for your entry because of it so keep that in mind.Davias wrote:Can we use EQ, filters, volume automation within the DAW ? Done. But I thought the slider is visible to everyone, so can you tell me your operating system, browser and flash version please? You too Examigan?idfpower wrote:Can you guys please fix the player on the OSC page? It currently shows only 50 songs and there's no scroll down slider...tnx
