Actually a lot of the fears and complaints in this thread have long been covered in statements made by Bitwig on their facebook page.. they answer quite a number of questions on there. Might be worth a view (and you don't need a FB account to READ them).

that is true. The problem seems to be that some are bound to believe that live = bitwig...VitaminD wrote:They've already stated (on facebook) they've covered the PDC issue that was in Live.trimph1 wrote:Especially if'n you have the same PDC issue show up.![]()

The only real complaints I ever see is some people who are tired of waiting for it ... and some others bemoaning the stated lack of rewire.VitaminD wrote:Actually a lot of the fears and complaints in this thread have long been covered in statements made by Bitwig on their facebook page..
What else are people complaining about? It's hard to complain about something that you can't actually even use yet, except (of course) mostly to complain that you can't use it yet.
I do wish they'd just release the thing already and put this long drawn out episode of digital foreplay to bed once and for all. Whatever isn't still ready yet can just be version 1.01.
As comedian Martin Lawrence might say... "What the problem is?"

I agree, and to be clear, I'm not "complaining" about BitWig at all. I am "stating" that I think that they bungled the release, but that's not a complaint.LawrenceF wrote:The only real complaints I ever see is some people who are tired of waiting for it ... and some others bemoaning the stated lack of rewire.VitaminD wrote:Actually a lot of the fears and complaints in this thread have long been covered in statements made by Bitwig on their facebook page..

Just release the damn thing already.
I also applied for beta testing and never got any reply but "we will contact you". Will I still be alive when you contact me? huh?

just to reiterate, my comments were meant more in jest than complaint.
but it does go to show what happens when someone puts out claims of a soon to be released...how soon is soon?...product.
work on the product...then market...

Soon can be 5 years or more, it seems. It's quite relative. They must love Einstein!

On a really serious note, if I were invested in the future of Bitwig Studio, an insider, I'd be on the verge of becoming really concerned about a good bit of their "thunder" being stolen.
When you publicly show what are easily arguably some clever approaches to some features for over a year, and actually don't release it, you might run the risk of being "one upped" on some of that stuff before you even release the thing, that someone else copies some of your ideas and does it better, and gets it out before you.
Which is probably why most DAW companies don't actually do that, show new potentially clever features until they're near ready to actually distribute.
To clarify the above, it seems pretty illogical to me to give your biggest competitor - Ableton Live? - direct and detailed insight into everything that's coming, for 12-18 months? They're probably already coding "counter measures" as we speak over there... since they kinda know (and have known for some time) exactly what they'll be competing with. Why would anyone do that?

LOL. Must be reposted. Or reported. Is there nothing that cats can't respond to dismissively?hibidy wrote:DHR53 wrote:What does "cats" mean... I never got that?

I agree. There are times when you want to announce features in advance, but it's not clear that this was the right time. Then again, perhaps those aren't the best features and they've trying to mislead the competition, but I think that's unlikely.LawrenceF wrote:On a really serious note, if I were invested in the future of Bitwig Studio, an insider, I'd be on the verge of becoming really concerned about a good bit of their "thunder" being stolen.

It's really clear already that Ableton is responding to this. Do you think that they would have "bundled" MFL with suite if BitWig hadn't announced their built in modular environment? Granted, on first glance, I might like BitWig's approach better, but I'm not sure that it matters to most people. The reality is, most customers don't program at that level and only libraries matter. If people are just comparing features, built in modular environment is now something that comes with live.

I really don't know how it started. But it's kinda fun. Something to pass the time while waiting.......endlessly waiting......DHR53 wrote:Didn't Donkey Tugger start that cat thing? Ha! That's way back...
