"Darling, are you coming to bed yet? I've got a little birthday preset for you".

:D

:hihi:

Also if anyone didn't know already after "buying in", make sure to get the 2 free expansion packs for it. It's so cool that all that is included

Rapture is a completely different synth from Z3TA+...

Different architecture, different sound engine and different capabilities...

Same father - different mother..The brain children of RGC

They are both very powerful and under-rated synths...

Get them both because they compliment each other perfectly
No auto tune...

Z3ta2 might be pretty good or whatever, but I see a thread on here about all the bugs they've found in it.

Also Rapture is only about 20 bucks (for now anyways), can't beat that, as Z3ta2 is $99.

Found an amazing trick in Energy XT2. Load a Rapture - any patch pretty much and then trigger it from a 1 bar midi loop in the seq with just quarter notes stretching each for a whole quarter of a bar continuously, so there's no gaps, if you follow me. Does it with other patterns but seems to work best with this.

Then go to options in Rapture (pin icon) and set it to work multi-timbrally. All of a sudden the patch will start chugging in sync to the sequencer, beautifully, rhythmically. WTF? The patch just transforms and comes alive, and what was an upper middle class mediocre synth becomes something so magical it could almost give Albino or Blue a run for it's money. 9 times out of 10 this trick worked for me. I have no idea what is going on, but it just works for some reason.

Render this out by say inserting an edison or a voxengo recorder on the track you are messing with and, well, record it, because when you save and reload the track it will be gone. Even setting it back to non-multi-timbral and resetting it will not work. This works just the once and then stops working. It's voodoo really, but never fails to give an otherworldly ethereal and astonishing effect. I tried to figure out what was going on, but as I have noted before, EnergyXT2 seems to break the laws of physics - cause and effect and time's arrow mean nothing to this program ;-).
I just tried it. That's pretty weird. I've just got to figure out how to use it to my advantage.

Really?

Did it do that for you as well?

I forgot to mention it works best with the sequence patches of Rapture, but it does change them significantly for the better. But the really strange thing is it sequences the normal patches too. What this has to do with multi-timbralism is anyone's guess.

Just to confirm, did you mean that it does that for you too?

Edison on an insert seems to be the quickest way to capture it. But I find the Voxengo Recorder to work flawlessly for those times Edison is not practical. Plus it's free too, unlike Edison.

I'm going to see if this does the same things in other hosts. I'm really curious as to just what is going on here.

cheers.

Yes. same thing here. I tried it with the first sequence patch I found in the factory sequences bank (4ll br34k). I switched off the transport after running it for a few bars and it just continued to play.

Yes, that's right.

It does that as well.

Can only get rid of it by muting the mixer channel on the far left. You know what I mean.

And the only way to truly shut it up is to reload the song, and then it is gone, it reverts back to another sound, which I'm not even sure is the same as the original one before the multi-timbral thing was kicked in.

All I know is, that I can find no way to get it back or reset it, even going back to square one and doing it again doesn't work.

That's why I had to render it out.

I suppose that shutting down XT and going back and doing it ALL again would work, but it's enough of a hassle already.

Still, it's a great effect and yields some really wonderful results, so I just made a template with Edison inserted on the track ready to record.

Edison really is a wonder. Just nothing comes close. So many uses it's not true.

cheers.

It's too random and uncontrollable. It is fun for a while, but quickly becomes very annoying when you can't recall any settings.

It's a good trick, so I put it in my sound design folder in Templates for XT2.

You probably have a sound recorder that you know how to use, but if you don't the Voxengo one is one of the best and I have a few and it is FAST.
Since getting Edison, I pretty much use that for everything, but on the rare occasion it doesn't work, I use the Voxengo one.

Stick it on an insert of the Rapture track and record away. Open up the .wav in your editor of choice - top and tail it - et voila.

I know you could have worked this out for yourself, but this is just for someone else that may not know.

Here's a link to the recorder.

I've got the Edison FL plugin, but I'll give the Voxengo Recorder a try tomorrow. I'm going to install Ignite tonight.

Well, Edison is much better and quicker.

Once it's inserted on a track, you can actually if you are really quick about it, hit the record button when the bar comes around. Of course it won't be perfect, but it can get fairly close. And then you hit stop as quick as you like again. There you go - 4 or 8 bars of Rapture. Use the drag from icon on Edison on the far right, and drop the wav onto the XT sequencer window where it will automatically create an audio track for you. Job done.

You now have what you were hearing recorded perfectly. It only takes a few seconds more. No hassle at all.

You did know about the drag wave file onto DAW button on the right didn't you?
I'm sure you did. I didn't though for a while. Imagine my joy when I found out.

God I love Image Line plugins. Gol's a f**king genius.
