Nah I feel missunderstood and to a degree attacked by a Mob. But I should probably blame myself for asking where almost Everyone already are loyal followers. Seems like alot of users dont think about the long term (Constant flow of new funds). Although I do not manage a company.bluedad wrote:I don't think it's rude to ask initially; but now you've got your answer.
I appriciate Urs respons and agree with him but I still can't see how a Resale instead of a new sale is "prefered" (Thats what My Proposal was all about to start with).
"Psycological hurdle that one missed a deal that wont ever come back" cause you never knew to begin with. And that might cause a missed sale. That for me is bad for a company and just unlucky for a customer that might spend that cash on something else (no need to be software related at all).
I accept and will not bump this further

We've been thinking about loyality rewards a lot, but never came to a satisfying conclusion. Maybe one day we'll add bonus vouchers to customer accounts, like Universal Audio do, but probably not as often.Multiband wrote:Now when I think about it this whole thing might be seen as a request for a "Groupbuy" sort of. That was not my intention. I thought more in the way of buy more and get rewarded. Something that would be on the U-He site at all times. I know nothing about "Loyalty Points". To many companies seem to fool their Users with that stuff.
When we do introduction offers then it's merely to compensate for the unknown bugs that a fresh software will still have.
On the marketing side, we have resellers lined up at our door, and they're all baffled by our "no", no matter what they offer. As much as we would love to sell thousands of units a month rather than hundreds, there is a phenomenon that I call "death by success". We are now at a sweet spot where customer support takes Clemens and me maybe an hour a day, and another hour for Howie. The more sales and the bigger the customer base, the more questions and issues end up in our letter box. It has sometimes been at the point where we had to spend so much time on answering emails that we could not fix the underlying issues. If this state is persistent, then a company is doomed. It has happened to others before, and we don't want to go there. Just look at the months it took us to get an update out that worked *perfectly* on our machines and that of our 30 active internal beta testers. There's always more issues out there, and some are circumstatial.
Another perspective to this: We much rather develop new things than get frustrated by people's problems - and seeing people who run into trouble after an update or who expected something else, whatsoever, is always something we do not take lightheartedly. Some people who write to us are desperate, some are angry and so we also sometimes need to provide some TLC along with a solution.
On the topic of resale value - I think that many people buy our stuff *because* it has a high resale value. People know it's a good investment, because they don't lose much and they get free support and updates.
There's also another point to be made on software value. As most people might know, we do not cater for artist endorsements. There's never a license going out to anyone famous for free. Nevertheless, it sometimes so happened that someone will get a free copy, maybe in return for a backstage ticket, a dinner, because he's family, for lending us a vintage synth or whatever else. In most cases those people *never* use the software. Never. It's absolutely stunning how people disregard Zebra or Diva when they get them for free. They ask for it, and then some don't even install it. For this reason I believe that there's a psychological thing with many people - they will enjoy a software more if they pay for it. Of course I don't have any scientific evidence, but I do believe that there's a pattern. Hence I'm not sure if some people do themselves a favour when they only go for bargains. Not sure.
Cheers,
- Urs

When you buy a u-he product
Your money gets you
*Top notch & super friendly support*
Seriously U-he are very good in this regard, and if you ever have problems Urs and his team are here for their users.
There is no ticket system or long waits when you send them a email. Quite often they will get back to you instantly! Also the fact you can communicate with them here on KVR is priceless.
One thing I really really appreciate is that u-he is a HONEST company that does not mess with it's users. There are no SALES on their products, so it's fair across the board for everyone when they buy the products.
*High quality sound*
The sound quality of the products really speak for themselves!
*Powerful tools*
All of the products in the U-he catalog compliment each other, and are all very straight forward to use. I find them very well designed and unique! When you buy Uhbik you are not just buying another FX suite but a set of very unique FX devices and so forth.
*A Super lenient copy-protection system!*
No C/R! No Dongle Required! No limited installs!
I honestly think Urs could easily charge more for his products and people like me would still buy them. So with all that said we are pretty spoiled.

"Attacked by a mob"
"kind of creepy..."
I admit that we "supporters" are enthusiastic (well, rabid might be a more appropriate adjective). I thought though we showed remarkable restraint in our responses...thanks to Mr. H's fine example. Some sort of niceness muzzle maybe. Zebra is my only "must-have" synth and I am still saving up for it. When I do own it, it won't be an impulse buy.

I have a recent doubt regarding Bazille:
Is it ACE XL? Or is a totally diffeent product?
I was wondering if it's going to be an upgrade path from ACE to Bazille.

"Death by success" - that's some interesting gameplan there. U-he could become the next N.I., but I think we can all agree that would probably be the beginning of the end. It's a bit like how pop groups are/were (we don't really have groups so much as products these days) encouraged to blow up really big and then blow out by their 2nd or 3rd album. Build up and tear down so nothing good remains constant. Just one of the many problems created by our current cultural norms.

ACE and Bazille are both spin offs of the Berlin Modular project. If we ever manage to finish it then it would be a modular synth with swappable modules, similar to Diva, but with audio rate connectivity like ACE and Bazille. Both would be fully deductable towards the upgrade to Berlin Modular. It's still a lot of work ahead.rod_zero wrote:I have a recent doubt regarding Bazille:

i have bought stuff in cool discounts and generally don't use it.
i realize now that i only need very few things to make music and i will pay for them their regular price. i won't buy discounted stuff any more. my system is already too big for my needs.
i will get more u-he stuff, though, because at least i WOULD use it if i had time for synthesizers at all
