I have a Receptor 2 model, that was upgraded from Receptor 1 about three years ago. I only use it at home in a home studio environment; however, I have found the loading time of some multi patches to be unacceptably long.
I have a number of plugins within Receptor, including Omnisphere, Kontakt, and Sonik Synth and recently decided to "group" the different types of sounds within separate multi patches. I have set up multi patches, each with up to 10 slots, with each based on a specific type of sound, eg "organs", "electric piano", "orchestral strings", "pipe organ" etc etc. The idea being, if I need any of these sounds, I open the appropriate multi patch and scroll through each slot, channel by channel, until I find something that is close to the sound that I am looking for.
Unfortunately, switching from one multi patch to another is taking an age to load. For example, if I'm in "organs" and then decide to select "orchestral strings" in order to use one of the sounds in the slots, it will take over 5 mins for the "orchestral strings" multi patch to load (which is all made up of Omnisphere patches). Other patches load in slightly less time but still take a few minutes.
What often happens if I switch from one patch to "orchestral strings" or another patch with 10 slots filled, called "synth strings" (also all made up of Omnisphere sounds), is the GUI will disappear after about 4-5 mins, a picture of the Receptor will then appear and the GUI will then show the previous multi patch that I am trying to change (ie - the selected patch does not appear, and I then have to try and load it again).
Individual Omnisphere patches normally load in just a few seconds, so why is it taking so long to load all the patches in a given multi, up to, say 10 altogether ? Does Receptor have a problem loading this many patches within a Multi ?
I could, of course, reduce the number of slots within a given Multi, to reduce load time (hopefully) but I would then need more Multis to cover the range of sounds that I need.
Has anyone else experienced long load times with multi patches that are mainly made up of Omnisphere sounds ? Can I do anything to reduce these long load times ?
Sorry for the length of this post and I look forward to hearing from you

Something is causing the Receptor host to crash ("GUI disappears then reboots with no change").
I believe that the Receptor would have to uninstantiate and then reinstantiate all of the plugins in the new Multi, except where the plugin is the same.
Can you create a multi with, say, 5 channels of Omnisphere patches, then another multi with the 5 channels but different Omnisphere patches? Can you change between those without issue?
Also, how much RAM is a 10-channel multi using (check Setup tab)?

You need to isolate the plug-in.
If necessary, re-load the Multi that's taking so long to load - save different copies - re-load it each time with with a different channel muted, or empty.
Eventually you'll discover the culprit.
I discovered a bug with the Kontact 4 Orchestral Brass & Strings....
When 2 or more instances of K4 were loaded, and saved with Orchestral patches from it's own library ~ it took aprox. 2 minutes to load.
