Using midi guitar as standalone with midiloop into sonar 8.5.3 XP 32 bit. With new 7.5 version I get an error from midiloop saying ""midi feedback error". IF I use my previous 6.1 version all is well.
BTW. Just purchased the Ipad version as well and tracks well into garageband. Only thing I notice, and this is probably a limitation of GB, but when a GB synth is set to appegiate, midi gtr triggering only produces the note single. If the note is triggered on the ipad touch interface it appregiates fine. Strange.

That could be because it's sending a lot of data and midi loop thinks it's midi feedback. Do you have pitch tracking on? It may be transfering too many (tiny) pitch bends.spinedoc wrote:Using midi guitar as standalone with midiloop into sonar 8.5.3 XP 32 bit. With new 7.5 version I get an error from midiloop saying ""midi feedback error". There should be a way to disable midi feedback monitoring. I don't know about midiloop, but in loopbe you can. The MIDI spec data rate is super slow so unless there's a real danger of feedback there's no need to have feedback monitoring IMO.

Running the standalone 0.7.5 Beta 64bit at 128 samples with a Presonus AudioBox 44VSL on Win7 Home PremiumMaruuk wrote:I have the latest version and the standalone is STILL stuck at 256.

I've got the same setup, Presonus AudioBox 22VSL, Win 7 HP, 64-bit and it's still stuck at 256. It's the only number the window allows. Are you using the Presonus ASIO driver?

Yes, driver version 1.57.0.5194. I set the sample rate and buffer size in the AudioBox software and MIDI Guitar follows those settings.Maruuk wrote:I've got the same setup, Presonus AudioBox 22VSL, Win 7 HP, 64-bit and it's still stuck at 256. I'm not playing it like it's a piano.....and if I have to be a phenomenal player for it to work, I'll hang it up now.CurryPaste wrote:MG already does latency at the level of hardware and puts out way less rubbish than the Roland GR55 with hex. MG is much easier to setup too. Using 44Khz with 128 buffers here in the standalone and its AWESOME even at fast playing.
Btw. this was recorded in version 0.5 where buffers were stuck at 256:
Thanks, happy customer here.

Been beta testing since the start. This plugin is incredible. I am having problems getting midi guitar to actually recognize all six strings at once. Barre Chords come to mind. Bend Range should be up to 24.
at this point I would not want to use this Live "yet". but it is a absolute dream to be able to have this for getting parts down in the home studio. You are doing something that has supposedly been "impossible" in the past.
What I would change:
Longer times between the Trial Screen Popups
Default to "no instrument" on load up. at least with the vst version.
added support for tun files is most welcome.
add support for microtonal fretted instruments (at least recognize quarter tone pitches).

Agreed this is a pain, it shouldn't be too much of a problem to store the last instrument in the vst version as some DAWs won't. The effects are still there when I open the song again, but the instrument is always "test piano"airpom wrote:

That's how the GR-1 was. I would just get a keyboard then.Maruuk wrote:I definitely play it like a piano, the 4-finger pluck style, because I don't play piano and this is how I get to fake one.
I'm playing it much more like a guitar, but with a non-guitar sound. Piano tone is more my preference, but maybe not exactly what I want....
In any case, some success. I think my PC was having a device conflict. Originally, I was using my Axe-Fx II as an interface, which wasn't great. But apparently it was also affecting things when on but not in use, while I was using my Alesis mixer as an interface. I turned off the Axe-FX, and voila, very nice and subtle playability (through Midi Guitar and the Piano One VST).
The Alesis is ASIO, and locked at 256 samples. The default 44.1khz = 5.8ms. The Alesis supports up to 96khz, which maintains the samples but reduces the latency...however at 96khz the buffer section is blank. Very responsive, perhaps too much so at this point.
My remaining issues:
- 'double-picking', a la digga digga digga.
- strummed versus 'plucked' chords, especially quickly changing ones.
- the bass note drops out before the upper notes in a chord. That's just weird....except....maybe what is happening is the high frequency content of the bass note has dropped off too much to be read well, or/and the still prominent high frequency content of the upper notes are 'taking attention away'.
I have it set up in Reaper. I saved the project with that 'FX'. When I recall it, it all loads, including the last-used VST in MG. The only thing I have to click on is the 'trial' button in the MG window, elsewise it would I assume be ready to play.sheldrakes wrote: Agreed this is a pain, it shouldn't be too much of a problem to store the last instrument in the vst version as some DAWs won't. I just checked my MG Standalone version and it does recall the last instrument (soft synth) I loaded as well as the patch of that instrument, but that is standalone mode. Can't check if it does or doesn't do this in DAW mode with my Sonar as I have to run MG in standalone mode and use a workaround as noted in one of my previous posts.sheldrakes wrote:Agreed this is a pain, it shouldn't be too much of a problem to store the last instrument in the vst version as some DAWs won't. Thought I'd just post to let you guys know the results of my latency testing with Jamorigin midi guitar.
I have tested many interfaces by M-audio, focusrite, zoom etc with midi guitar on my HP envy. Just this afternoon i got my old NI rig kontrol 2 (guitar rig pedal) down from the loft to test, as it is a soundcard in its own right.
The results have been incredible. The latency is what I perceive as zero! I am a guitar teacher and can play some pretty fast stuff and it is keeping up with me far better than any other interface I have tried.
To be fair to NI they went to the trouble of releasing new drivers for this largely outdated interface and with the new drivers it plays like a dream.
Very excited about getting this into a live scenario. If you've got one of these lying around, dust it down and check out the latency!
P.S- Using asio4all
