where to begin ...

What everyone should know :
Pace has a Copy Protection system, that is currently not cracked.
Why is that so ?
It's extremely invasive and complex and thus, very hard to maintain.
The company has always been extremely slow with development and fixing issues.
Developers using Pace, have a very hard time to implement the Pace parts in their software.
( Just think about Pace 64bit and how looong it takes companies to implement it.
Current examples : Flux, Kush, etc. )
Since 15 years, there have always been any kind of issues, causing more or less havoc.
( The latest fiasco belongs to the "more" category, like tkpd forcing OS reinstalls )
And -important- : this will not stop ! The next disaster is right around the corner.
And that time it could hit those, that now don't understand, where the problem is.
( A lot of die hard Pace supporters, over at GS, have just learned their lesson )

They simply are not good, at what they do.
And worse : they do not seem to care !
So everyone should think twice, before buying into this !

It took Slate 1+ year (!!) to sort out all the issues in Pace Eden ( aka iLok2 ).
Guess why he 'gratefully' gave a free iLok2 to all beta buyers !
And I already mentioned the very slow process of iLok2 plugins going 64bit.

This did not work for me ( uninstalling , pref etc ) . I got a new license Neo Soul Keys UVI. I tried to activate it and lo and behold all my deactivated plugins went on my production ilok and all my good licenses went to available. Ive tried to put them back on my ilok - no good. All the licenses i dont use are on my ilok and all my good ones I use I cant anymore. They are sitting in available but when activating them they do nothing , move nowhere. Im stuffed. Ive logged it - Im far from impressed. I cant use any of my licenses.

Bad example. Slate are always late even for no reason at all. Also the iLok 2 were given for free, because we originaly bought VCC as an ilok 1 protected plugin while in beta stage AND THEN sometime they changed their mind to protect it with iLok 2.

Actually, Slate went for iLok2 because while in the beta of VCC, it got cracked and released to the public. This has nothing to do with Slate sorting out so called "issues" with iLok2. Though there were improvements needed shortly after the release of VCC to cut down on iLok loads.


And AFAIR, I did not get an iLok2 for free but actually had to pay a couple of bucks on top if waiting for the shipment from the US. (Germany was about 1-2 months late to get the iLok2 in stores).

They now pretty much sell the iLok2 on top of their software to make it "available to the masses". And that's a very good marketing move.

Futhermore regarding Slate being late. That's his kind of marketing. In the end, you still get a top notch product.




But then again, this is not(!) about Slate, this is about Pace/iLok.
I just wanted to comment on the Slate Digital bashing.


Still keeping an eye on this topic. Until then, no syncing of my iLok(s).

They definitely had a lot of issues implementing Eden.
It's all in that Mega-Thread.
And yes after release, more Pace issues had to be resolved.


And BTW. I'm using iLoks again, since 2 years.
Mainly because of Slate.
But that does not mean, I like how they work and what they do.
I was very lucky, not being burned by their latest failure.
Like many others, I was demoing some softtube plugs
and thus had to wait 3 days during their downtime
( I have Zero Downtime but that didn't help )
When the new system was finally up,
I gladly used my demo iLok ...

What time zone are the ilok people on. I'm desperate . None of my licenses work .

Well, I scanned this thread pretty closely, and I seem to have a major issue that no one else has mentioned:

NON-INTEL MACS ARE TOAST WITH THE NEW LICENSE MANAGER! My trusty G5, already frozen in time by my Pro Tools Accel Card's design, is now unable to even run the new software, since it requires an Intel machine!

There's new products I've bought and registered in my account, (everything as it should be, btw) but there's no longer any way to sync the ilok directly to the site to actually authorize them for use.

The workaround, (reacharound!) suggested by Pace is to get access to an Intel Mac, load their manager onto it, sync the new stuff and then uninstall. Simple. Easy. Jesus.

Still pretty shocking to me that they just made a whole group of users unable to access things they own, with no crossover period or warning. I guess it's a quick rip of the band-aid approach. But it's my band-aid, and they're pulling!

This whole f up is ridiculous . Just give us back the old web system so I can use my software again . Why should I be put out by this bullshit . Developers should take note if this . It's unacceptable all my licenses are no longer available to me just because I bought a new product and attempted to put the license on my ilok . As I stated above all my licenses went to available off my ilok and I can't activate them back to my ilok - it does not work .

I don't think anyone here can help, but have you tried following the instructions posted on the previous pages? Seems to have worked for some people at least.

I tend to prefer a dongle, at least Steinberg's, to serial codes. but that this can even happen means I will_not buy something that requires iLok. I have one thing, which I don't need to delete or move, that I almost never use. that's it, if your product requires this system, it's a no-go for me absolutely.

Yes I tried , it did not work , I'm just waiting on ilok people now . It must be something on ilok servers . It's a real worry . I had the temporary license thing happening . That got fixed . I thought all was fixed until I put another license on and did a sync - it invalidated all my licenses . Out of action . At the mercy of ilok.
