That's exactly what I did.

Did you install with Administration rights? Did you uninstall all Pace related software first? Turn your Antivirus off see if that makes any change.
Yes, yes and I have no AV software installed.

I just tried to install the legacy drivers again and now it worked. I'm not aware of doing anything differently though.

I won't touch the new software again until I have to, that's for sure now.

This terribly reminds me of an old Steinberg bug with Wavelab (or was it Cubase?!).

What happened, was that the installer tried to run several tools in a certain order. But apparently, it didn't like Windows XP. So the automatic process didn't work.

What solved the issue, was installing each module separately. And in order to do this, I had to extract the EXE file with tools like 7zip. However, this was highly experimental - but it did work for me.

Maybe this is the very same issue.

iLok up to their old tricks again. This is exactly why I personally have never bought any s/w with iLok. Not because I don't like dongles - I'm perfectly happy with Syncrosoft or anyone else's dongles. And I was even happy that the latest iLoks actually work OK - still won't use them though. A whole generation of musos has now grown up unaware of PACE's history. They used to release what would nowadays be considered viral s/w. Shat over several people's PCs and never lifted a finger to do anything about it. They simply weren't interested in their own crappy dangerous s/w, and the damage it did. They released version after version that f**ked some people's PCs. So anyone expecting iLok to lift any fingers today has another think coming. They never gave a shit before, I doubt they give a shit now.

History often does repeat itself, sadly.

NB this is NOT an anti dongle rant - it's an anti iLok/PACE rant. I actually quite like dongles.

Once bitten, twice shy. In the same way I will never buy anything from Sony ever again (read up about DAT players...). For iLok/PACE to be in the same corporate twatlist as Sony takes some doing IMO. You have to be especially unethical to get lumped in with those sleazebags, and iLok/PACE were always a close 2nd. Sad to say it, but probably kiss your licenses goodbye.

putting the boot in. nice. MORE of this please.
Plugin Alliance is a better option for users such as myself, in turn - ALL OF YOU DEVS, as I will not hesitate to buy more stuff from you.
Sonnox, Slate and Softube - I am looking in your direction.

My iLok is requiring a system reboot every few sessions, just to make itself visible to my DAW. THIS is the thanks I get for SUPPORTING YOUR SOFTWARE?? I don't understand this, people say iLok2 is uncracked, but for how long? Is all of this worth it? What happens when iLok2 IS cracked? iLok3!!?? Then what? AROUND and AROUND and AROUND!!?!! It's only a matter of time until people such as myself decide that the sounds are great, but the downtime is just not worth it.

no, PACE don't care.

PACE has proven itself as a company who are content to put their customers and end users in a position of loss, in an attempt to save face.

The only thing that will change things is devs not using their service, either because they choose to or because their customers don't support them anymore.

Is the end user to blame? Really?

I thought the enemy was the use and distribution of unauthorised software.

Have another look. He's got about 25 (none recent though) and they're pretty much all about iLok.

He's also "not made made any friends yet". Which is not a surprise. :P

EDIT: Aha, I see my mistake. Sorry.
