Correct me if I'm wrong, but have iLok disabled all support other than FAQs? I can't find an email address or support system on the new iLok site.

They've worked really hard to hide it, which is probably one reason why they claim the number of complaints has been comparatively low.morelia wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but have iLok disabled all support other than FAQs? I can't find an email address or support system on the new iLok site.
Go here: https://www.ilok.com/helpmyilok.html
Click on one of the topics like "licence manager not working", then hit the green continue button below the FAQ item. This should take you to the ticket form. Or a clown car will appear on your screen so you can watch the wheels fall off and all the clowns clamber out. One or the other.

Thanks a lot. It must only appear for certain issues because I tried many and never saw the green continue button. Thanks for helping where iLok failed.

...and that's the answer I got from the ILok support:

There's no new version of the License Manager, of course. It's still the same version I had the problems with.ILok Support wrote:Please try downloading a fresh copy of iLok License Manager and reinstalling.

I had a few minor problems as I said previously (some were of my own making to be fair).
However, I soon realized that ST's Radiator upgrade wasn't working at all. Now, that was a nightmare for me, because I use that thing on everything.
So I contacted Sts and they said, download the latest version of the Ilok manager. Even tho' I had done it the day before. They said do it again, because it gets updated very quickly.
Then also said, I should 'deactivate' Radiator and then 'reactivate' it. It orked perfectly!!
So it might be worth trying on other plugin too I guess.

Well, I compared the file sizes and they were exactly the same, down to the last byte. Since I have the old drivers up and running again, I won't take the risk again.
Nonetheless, thanks for the hint.

@ Theo
So sorry to hear mate, it's a low blow.
It's funny tho, just as you are leaving iLok behind, I am becoming more and more locked into it. Although I am predominantly (and proudly) a 'hobby' producer/engineer in regards to my own compositions, I have side projects and customers that I really can't avoid using Slate, Sonnox, Softube and SoundToys... oh, and don't forget the Lexicon
I honestly wouldn't care about using an iLok generally (except I also have an eLicenser and my Macbook only has 2 USB ports, AND most portable hubs don't power the dongles properly)... but after this fiasco has me severely pissed about it all. Since updating to the new system my iLok keeps dissapearing from my OS, and I KNOW it isn't the hub or anything cos the eLicenser never has any trouble, and I'm running Cubase so I'd definitely notice i reckon.
What a fecking balls up. I hope the above mentioned companies would consider a shift to Plugin Alliance, or a similar C/R keyfile system. As much as I hate C/R, once it's done, it's done, and no dongle problems.

so it's been almost 10 days now and this is still going on????
wtf. so much for that "professional" copy protection solution. jeez. what a joke.. though of course there's nothing funny here... i'm sure this has messed up some sessions and projects for people..
it's ironic that there are probably lot's of people using cracked plug ins who are cruising along w/o any issue while all the people who legally purchased these plug ins are having all the trouble.
good job iLok!

it's a real kick in the balls
especially when my session crashes mid tweak beacause my iLok is randomly f**king out. Gotta catch them pirates [insert piratey sound and arm swing here].
AGAIN - I never thought I'd be so thankful for the C/R of Plugin Alliance, but right now, it's better than NOTHING. Get it ? pace . NOTHING. which is what you have dealt quite a few more than the 70 people you claimed to have affected. People unable to use their equipment.

Wow he has guts to show up... A little too late! Not sure if he can fix the damage of his company's reputation. Keeping customers in the dark for days - BAD MOVE!! They should have rolled back to the old website after the first problem reports came in. Where was the emergency hotline setup? Where was the online-chat tech support to TALK to someone? Didn't they have the capacity to set that up, I thought they are the business?
HOWEVER, in the end it's up to the developers to decide. Developers are iLok's clients, not us! Anyone who had a problem should report to the DEVELOPER and let them make the decision to continue supporting iLok or pull out.
If you had activation problems, talk to the developer and tell them your painful iLok experience, including iLok's support who let you down.
I have to trust the devs to know what's best for their customers and the best way to protect their property.
Goals should be:
- Easy to manage and install licenses
- Unintrusive to the OS (no endless driver junk!)
- Support ticket system with guaranteed feedback within 2 hours
- Online chat tech support for troubleshooting in emergencies
In my ideal world, we all would have just a serial and avoid all need of the above.

It's a tough call Theo.
Nice idea 'bout the 'ween me off the ilok' thread, there was a similar one about UAD. Which was tough for ME to quit, that's for sure. Still miss the VOG like crazy.
I'll PM you RE: sonnox
