Zebra being one of the best soft synths around, I'm thinking about buying it at one point.chk071 wrote:Why?Numanoid wrote:Would be interesting to see which DAW most Zebra users prefer.Don't get me wrong, just curious why it would be relevant...
I like FL Studio, but is that best suited DAW for such a plugin? Curious about Zebra users work flow experiences with different DAW's, and also I like statistics

It's a matter of taste and budget... I used Logic but found I lusted for a pattern approach for composition and potential performance.
I could have used another DAW... I just settled on Ableton as it had the most gizmos for live pattern sequencing.
Zebra is what makes the sounds, and it's needs are wholly different and I would say it SONICALLY does stuff others synths can't.
It makes such good BASIC sounds, I barely need more effects... just Zebra buzzing away.

I use Cubase LE4 because it came with my interface; it's the only software DAW I've ever used. Cubase has a pretty good reputation, so I kept using it. After all the time I spent learning it, I didn't feel like learning a new one, though I was somewhat tempted by Reaper at times, but heard years ago it wasn't very good with a Mac, but I would imagine it improved. Though I heard not long ago that Melodyne (I own it) doesn't work well with Reaper.

Mostly Sonar, but I've also used it quite a bit with Studio One, Vienna Ensemble Pro (as a subhost for PT), and Ableton Live, and a little bit with Logic. Works fine with all of them IME.
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Slim Phatty | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

Mostly in Cubase, now version 7. I use Cubase since AtariST times in the 1990s.
And in SAVIhost to run Zebra as "standalone" when i want to do some "sound research" without being distracted with other things in a daw.
I host many instances of Zebra in NI Maschine from time to time to create complex drum/percussion kits.
Also have Live but don't launch it very often at the moment.

Renoise convert here.
I have in the past found a few small issues with using Zebra for Renoise, but u-he has always been prompt with fixes and consequently things are very solid now. This should certainly be no reason for you to not consider Zebra.

Everyone else ditched it years ago when it seemed developed had been shelved. Back in the Summer of 2063. *shakes a cane at you* but don't let the age make you think I've gone soft, young whippersnappers, with all your FANCY Ableton Lives and StudioOne mumbojumbos...
