Thanks everyone for the responses.

A couple questions about iGrand (that I can answer myself as I think they have a trial version):

how is it in mono? Unfortunately that is life in my current band (and almost all others I've been in). It's something I have be on the lookout for with every patch....constant vigilance!

Can the amount of reverb--assuming there is any--be adjusted? I don't usually use much as of course the PA signal will be reverberating to some amount in the room, and it tends to wash out the monitors. Some could be added to FOH and not affect monitors of course if need be...

I haven't used igrand through a PA, so I can't answer the mono question, but as for reverb, yes, you can dial in as much or as little as you want. I am a bassist, and my keyboard skills are limited, but the synths I use live work fine in mono, and I am running out of the headphone jack into the mixer on my pedalboard, which then goes to a DI (my bass, my novation xio, and iPad all go into the PA via one channel). It works well.

I haven't had to use iGrand in mono, but all the pianos are ONLY stereo, so going to mono may not sound the best.

You can adjust reverb, but there really isn't much to it. Just a single knob. I recommend an Audiobus effects app. I've been using Echo Pad sometimes at home, but would like to get Turnado.

Didn't take long to hit a snag. The problem is my midi-to-usb converter(s).

For years I've owned an M-audio uno; I pretty much knew it wasn't going to work with the CCK (it needs drivers on both mac and pc) and sure enough the ipad states something to the effect of "this device is not supported" when I plug it in.

So I bought a $5 "midi squid" from amazon. I've owned it for a while and just got around to actually trying it--the ipad powers it but it won't see midi coming in. I verified the controller is sending midi so the unit is apparently DOA.

I can't return it (too late) but I could try another one...problem is they all have many reviews that state "doesn't work" or "works when it wants to". I need "reliable".

Any recommendations for midi-to-usb that is "class compliant"? Since I have the CCK I'd like to try this solution out before going for an interface, though of course the interface handles audio better also....
