New Soulflier Album Partially Created in Tracktion

Hey fellow Tracktioneers!

I've finally released my organic electro-acoustic sounding electronic music under the name of Soulflier. Two of these songs were composed and mixed entirely in Tracktion; "The Valley" and "Alterations".



This album has been a long coming project of mine spanning the last ten years. The oldest song on the album was composed back in 2004. Far from being a "best of" album, this diverse music captures a common vibe and feeling. I often refer to this stuff as "the soundtrack to my life". It's the music I hear in my head as I go through life.

Nice work Doug! I can certainly tell this album took a long time - its like listening to a few different artists - your choice of production mood/style has obviously varied throughout the 10 years - plus the instrument choices are unexpected and diverse

Thanks guys,
This was a real labor of love for me. It also finally marks the release of something personal. I'd gotten into recording to release my own albums, but got caught up recording, editing, and producing other bands. That was fun, but I'm looking forward to releasing more original material, especially now that Tracktion is now back from the brink!

Also, thanks for making me aware of Bandcamp. I've been looking for an alternative to CDBaby for my next CD, and I'm really impressed by the whole vibe of the site. (I love your song notes.)

(And forgive me for intruding on your thread, but you've so inspired me I've moved my first CD over to test things out: the CD was recorded entirely in T2 and T3 and released back in 2008. To prepare things for Bandcamp I opened the original masters in T4 and did some quick polishing. T4 worked like a champ, which is another awesome sign for the future. http://m2theband.bandcamp.com)

Very cool. I'll check out your CD right now. I really dig the way BandCamp works. Seems to be a great way to connect with fans. I've known of it for a while now, but haven't fully jumped in until now. It'll be interesting to see if it works for sales.

I see your out in Spokane. My parents lived out in Deer Park for a while a few years back. I've visited a few times. Nice place.

And BTW, I have your album streaming right now. Very cool vibe. I'm digging the acoustic folk progressive rock feel! Nice production.

Yes, we moved to Spokane about a 10 months ago after 15 years on the western side of Wa. (I grew up in the Tri-Cities and always wanted to get back over here!)

And thanks for your kind words. I hadn't listened closely to the CD in years, and was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't embarrassed by the mix when I prepared things to publish to BandCamp. A year before we began recording the thing I didn't know what a compressor was - so there was a tremendous learning curve. But by the end of the process I was feeling pretty comfortable: there's just so many awesome resources to draw on out there, including this forum!
