I bought this 2-3 years ago . For some reason I keep it on my backup HDD, but don't use it in my current setup. There is something about the Tone2 sound I happen to dislike at times, but then I keep revisiting and loving the HCM synthesis and the sound works as well.
Great if this gets free for everyone. It's amazing what you can do with FireBird. Made me wonder if I would ever happen to have a *need* for Gladiator.

I absolutely love the Tone2 sound. I demoed some of the bigger ones and I am astonished how powerful those synths became. But Firebird is nearly en par with them.emotica wrote:.. I like their sound because it is somewhat different to other synths and that is great. They start to shine as soon as another synth from e.g. Urs or some Freeware stuff comes into play. But that is not a bad thing nor do they sound digital. I wouldn't call them "analog" but they can sound utterly warm and with lots of lowend. Some of the lowend sounds pretty clear compared to other synths.
I really love their filter. Tried all of them again today on various speed with various envelopes and different waveforms. Every filter sounds different. And every filter sounds great to me.
I don't like all of the wave forms but most of them and I think harmonic wise they were carefully chosen. Some of them have some mighty power. And because I love wavetable and PD synthesis I wish I could manually sweep through those waveforms but haven't found a way to do that. Only random and/or fixed starting points and always one full cycle (except static loopmode and/or loopspeed) in the beginning.
If somebody knows how to do that I would be really happy.
And Farrell for me too.
Regards
Sebastian

Thank you Ingo for the message.
This inspired me to throw some new patches together yesterday. I have created a little mash-up of them this morning with an old drum loop I did some time ago. No automation yet and a little bit monotone perhaps.
6 instances of Firebird, no additional FX. Only Firebirds own.
Used 1 x Baxter EQ, 1 x DensityMKII & 1 x Limiter No6 on Master.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy it. Some Detroit inspired High-Tech-Soul. Big shout out to my peepz in Detroit who are still doing their thing and keeping it real. Thanks for that from Germany/Europe.

Firebird freeware is nice. Not one of the ones I would go for in the Tone2 line unless it was free. Hoping they bring down the prices on Rayblaster & Gladiator2 along with that. Now those I'm waiting to jump on.

When released as freeware Firebird will include a few updates like e.g. improved sound quality and improved CPU use.
Native 64-bit support and Mac support do not seem to be planned as this would need a complete rewrite of the plugin.

It has potential, I hear some crescendos with pads that go silent and then a sub sonic panning swoosh rises up
Not sure if the synth can do that but would be cool to see that happen.
What is that breathy sound your using in the first part of the piece.
By the way you might want to work on using firebird more I bet the OSC is going to be firebird in the very near future so get a jump on it now.

Fascinating, there are no replies at all to the announcement in the Tone 2 forumIngonator wrote:Just found this at the Tone2 forum:

It's probably just an announcement which has been locked after they posted it. There is no reply to the other topics too: http://www.tone2.org/forum/index.php?PH ... &board=2.0

Beta testing for the update is just running. Works nicely here so far.Ingonator wrote:When released as freeware Firebird will include a few updates like e.g. improved sound quality and improved CPU use.
