i'm going to pick on m------ (edit: no, i won't) as an *example*, there's other guys i could easily pick on for this.
for contributions to the dsp forum over several years, helping developers to translate their ideas into processes, stimulating the general state of the art in music dsp.
such individuals may release only a few plugins a year, their influence has a far greater footprint.
of course, the only readers who know this are the ones who have read all those threads, and having a competition to recognise any single one such contributor would be somewhat tasteless, so i offer this as an honourary non existing category for the awards.

monib - of the hundreds of companies that have graced this board, i'd wager at least half of them have released a product incorporating knowledge sourced from one of the four names mentioned above (certainly an incomplete list).
they are long-standing and regular contributors to the public knowledge pool, either here or elsewhere. the software you use is better, because of them.
eg. if a developer tells you they have never gained information from a robert bristow-johnson post somewhere online, you're probably speaking to robert.
