Two ideas for new creative plugins: Doppler and Combfilter effect

Hello

I have two suggestions for new plugins:

One Doppler effect like IRCAM amongst others have done.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doppler_effect

The other one a comb filter effect, for doing sound drones and more..!

I believe these would both be things that Vojtech can do, and do well :D  :!:

Hi Mads,

these are already there!!!! MMultiBandVibrato is a state of the art doppler simulator, and MWobbler has a comb filter among many other filters.

I have bought MMultibandVibrator several months ago, and I still don't know of the Doppler? How can I "dopple" with it?

BTW, I was about to reply: "Don't MWobbler and MFilter have Comb Filters?"...

Truly yours, your biggest fan, this is...Tricky Loops...

To dopple, to dopple, how to dopple (not double :x), that's the question! ;-)

Always tricky to propose an interesting idea for a new plugin, because it requires extensive checking if someone hasn't already made one. :-)

b.t.w. with Melda plugins you can't go wrong. The multiband option only adds to the creative possibilities.
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

I have the mmelda total bundle for 1 year and I'm still discovering all its creative possibilities every time I use them. These tools don't give away easily what they are capable of!

+1

With all the modulator possibilities they are more complex than some VA synth.

I guess there are enough creative possibilities at least for the next 5 generations... :help:

Hell, I don't even touch (most of the time) mmelda's modulation monster capabilities! 5 generations - easily. I discovered I can throw away 2 of my previous purchased plugins from another company and replace them with just one mmelda tool!

Well you never know what's hiding under the hood of the Melda family - I certainly have to find those filters/settings and hear what they can do...

Thanks Vojtech

Thank you folks!

About doppler effect - that really depends on what exactly you want to do. Doppler is nothing else then a specific vibrato (after all it just slightly changes the pitch). So probably whatever you want exactly can be done by using some oscillator shape. I'd recommend enabling the "simulate realistic shape" option, as the shape will them more closely resemble the pitch, not variating delay, which may be a little harder to understand.

Hi Vojtech

Did a check here, and while there's no doubt that both the MWobbler and MMultibandVibrator can do a lot of treatments to the input sound, I haven't been able to produce the kind of sounds I was looking for!

What I'm looking for is an dedicated Doppler plugin, where it's possible to define a sounds movement, from A-B in a visual graph, much like what you have in your reverbs.

Regarding the comb-filters in MWobbler - what I'm looking for here is the resonant bell like singing and ringing that I know both from both Ohm force plugins and GRM tools from Ircam. So far I haven't been able to reproduce this family of sounds using the settings, which are crazy many, in the MWobbler. Also tried the full set of presets with no luck.

So my requests remains  :D

BTW and a little off-topic - Playing around with both presets and tweaking settings in MMultibandVibrator unfortunately produced results with a large ammount of clicks and pops.... haven't experienced this before, as far as I recall.

Hi Mads,

well, visual doppler, that's a quite rare thing and despite it wouldn't be too hard, there just too many way more interesting projects.

Comb - well, you should probably provide some audio example ;) (a few dry & wet combinations)

Clicks - any more information???

Hi Vojtech

Visual doppler is very interesting, a wonderful thing to have, especially since it wouldn't be too hard to do, as you say

Comb - I need to make examples with my old comb filter effect that I really miss. Unfortunately it's not compatible with new OS, so it'll take a little time to make examples - I will return with samples when time permits.

Clicks, I don't know if it's a buffer issue, but many of the presets has annoying clicks, that sounds as if was.
Haven't heard it before, so I think it's an issue that has been introduced with some of the later updates.

Hi Vojtech

I have a file ready for you to show the comb-filter-fx I was talking about, but I simply don't know how to upload it here on the forum.:-o
Can someone help?

Upload it to something like Mediafire and then paste & post the link to the uploaded file, should be easy enough. Remember to use url tags in your post or strange spaces may pop up randomly in the adress, KVR forum can misbehave sometimes concerning such things... You may need to register, but that should only take a minute or two. I only mention Mediafire cause I've got good experience with them, the most reliable service I've tried. Plenty of other options though.
